Saw it while getting on my email a couple days, now the count is 20 dead and 511 injured; Original article: -[link]- Already a wiki entry: -[link]- For those of you who don't know, the Love Parade (electronic dance festival) in Germany was subject to a horrible stampede killing at least 20 and injuring at least 511 people. This is probably one of the worst stampede killings that has ever been recorded, especially in our lifetime. I know I heard about like 3 people dying in a store on Black Friday, but this is way worse. It's really sickening that people would care so much about fucking getting into a place than worrying about other people THEY ARE LITERALLY STEPPING ON. It really pisses me off that this happened and that the owners of the place did not do ANYTHING to prevent this from happening and were even AWARE OF THE RISK. The place was an enclosed tunnel which was definitely not adequate for thousands of raging people to get to the parade. There's a homicide investigation going on but this will not atone for the people who died a truly unnecessary death and for no cause. I cannot imagine what it must have felt like for the injured people getting ran over by THOUSANDS of screaming fans. I guess I'm just venting my frustration, but no one can question that this is a horrifying (I can't even put it to words clearly) event that was EASILY preventable but was not. It's like the Wal-Mart occurrence that happened a few years ago on Black Friday. I think someone around here, Macy's or something, got killed on Black Friday because of a stampede. | ||
