arent bone marrow transplants like really painful? or is that only when they have to remove it directly from you spine or something?

I've heard, depending on the method, it hurts a lot.

You can get stem cells from the blood, but that is usually for research.

For donation to cancer patients, it's a minor surgery where they put you out, make a cut on your hip, and extract from your hip bone. Like all surgeries, it's painful after.
