Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

I'm sure you all come in here expecting this to be about Homebrew for gaming, but it's not. I'm talking about brewing your own beer. Does anyone do it here? I just got all the pieces together (waiting on their arrival) to start this, what seems to be, glorious hobby. I know I can make about ~45-50 beers in 5 gallons, and that's the plan to brew. I have two "kits" coming to get warmed up and started in the hobby, and it cost me a mere $60 for both. I'll be making an American Hefeweizen Wheat Ale and a Honey Golden Ale for my first two batches. I know I'll make about 10 gallons of beer overall, and roughly 100 bottles. That's a lot cheaper than buying beer itself *which reminds me, I need brown pop top bottles, looks like I'll have to buy beer to drink, to get them...). I guess I'll probably start a journal of all the brews I make (log all the info so I can remake etc) and maybe some writing about the adventure it is. I'll try to keep you up to date and post pictures and the steps I take, so if you aren't brewing and want to, it could help. If you are interested in this hobby, I suggest you pick up "The Complete Joy of Homebrewing" (that's a link to download it free, but it's like $8, if you like it, buy it to support the author) What are your thoughts on it? Any questions I can try my best to answer? |

don't really know much about homebrewing beer besides ingredients that go into it and a little bit about the process but i did go brewery hopping this past weekend to some pretty well known breweries in NY (brooklyn brewery, chelsie piers brewery) and one thing i did take from the tours was that more hops gives you an earthier flavor and slightly more body and varying amount of yeast can give you higher alc % as well as alter the flavor of said brew (usually > yeast = smoother, lighter brews and < yeast = darker, slightly bitter brews) That's all i got |

I've got a feeling it'll taste like shite the first few batches. Best of luck to you though. It definitely seems somewhat interesting to me.

My best friend does this. My only advice is use good water, filtered at the minimum, distilled spring water even better. Other than that it's pretty straightforward, relatively cheap too.

I'm actually going to go on a limb here and say it will taste pretty damn good. I'm not mixing and matching myself....yet. I'm just messing with kits at the moment, which is far less complicated then mixing yeast/grains/hops/malt/anything else. |

My cousin is real serious about it, so were some old neighbors. Apparently sanitation is the biggest problem. Bacteria will ruin the flavor and aroma. Let me know how it goes, definitely want to do this myself in the future. |

Will do, also, if you want I can send you the link of the store I used to get my equip (2 5 gallon glass carboys, 2 6.5 gallon buckets, and most of the little shit etc) for 129.99, which is really cheap from what I've seen is out there. Also, if you're lucky enough, maybe I'll mail you a bottle or two from a batch if I think it's worthy enough of sending. |
