Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Make sure to spend your life savings before you start earning any money. Go blow it on coke and strippers for all I care. Then learn the meaning a dollar. Good day |

If you want to work outdoors you can work for DNR with a 4 year degree and make parks look nice. Pretty much without another science degree you're stuck as a gardener unless you can net an internship at a hospital or lab. Check usajobs.gov and sign up for like grade 3 - grade 6 jobs. My real advice: grow weed. |

But in all honesty... You can make anything happen wherever you want it to happen. Many people follow this unwritten guide that you need to move to where the work is, find out where the highest salaries for a specific job is. Im just the opposite. I live where i want to live. Granted, if you enjoy living where the highest paid salaries are then more power to you. If your going to get up every single day of your life and hate where you live, but are making a bunch more money doing that job.. well then it isnt worth it in my opinion. Move to where you want to live (but be reasonable). Find a job over there before you do and in the mean time work something here to get some experience and to save money. Dont let money or work dictate who you are, where you live, or how you live. Where there's a will, there's a way. Ill sacrifice 25-30k average yearly salary in a heartbeat if it means no NYC winters, no potholes, beach whenever i want, palm trees, warm weather, sunshine and warm rain (A.K.A. Florida). Living is cheaper, taxes are cheaper, gas and cars are cheaper. Tolls are like 50 cents depending where you go which can add up to no more then $2.00 on your longest round trip commute to work. Compare that to many people i know who spend $20+ a day in tolls not including gas prices. Then potholes ruin suspension and tires only adding more to the maintenance cost. Not to mention much unneeded stress. Then people who live a bit north who spend $390/m in train fare just to get to the city + $200/m for parking privileges. Others who take buses to get to work spending $70+ a week. It all balances out in the long run for the average Joe. I rather "balance it out" somewhere nice. Fuck NYC. I could care less how much more money i could make. /endrant On a more helpful note... 4 years of college nowadays is just a security net to help keep your job. Your gonna start low and gonna have to work your way up to good pay. But that little paper you now have will open many more doors to better opportunities. Edited Mon May 23 2011, 09:12PM |

As a fellow Bio major I'm gonna tell it to ya straight. Cater your resume towards your prospective field in Bio by listing job specific skills you hopefully learned in your elective courses and hope to fucking hell you did well enough in those courses to convince someone you might actually know something. Lab/intern experience outside of curriculum experience is a big plus but not usually necessary if you have a decent in-major gpa. Recommendations are also awesome to have especially if they're by professors who are published in the field you're looking at. Always be actively looking for jobs especially if you're not satisfied with what you initially settle for because funding dries up quick and your ass will always be the first to go. With just the BS in Bio anyone can do what you do so any in-school Bio major can get your job as an internship and any grad student/MS in Bio will get picked ahead of you. Solid jobs will come for local county/state offices where you'll have job security, benefits, and a pension. If all else fails do what I'm doing and shoot for a professional degree where the you'll always be in demand and have the education to bat away all the haters. |

I actually applied for a professional masters program at St. Johns for Biotech so I'm hoping i get into that cause its pretty much exactly what I wanna do. A BS in bio does open a lot of doors but your right there's so many bio majors out there that I'd be easily replaced. All in all thanks for the solid advice guys. and Noskill I can't make any promises |
