What do you guys think about Florida passing the law making people on Welfare get drug tests? I got my opinion but I'll wait for some of your's. More importantly how do you feel it will catch on in other states and the mamby-pamby's saying it's unconstitutional? -[link]- |

Why not? I mean, eventually weed will be legal, so it being on the drug test wouldn't be a stipulation causing rejection. All other drugs would probably impede on a persons ability to work correctly (minus meth for truck drivers) so getting caught with those, you shouldn't get paid like you work. |

Welfare is a good program for those who use it responsibly. The problem arises when you have people who leech off the government without actively searching for an income. Those welfare dollars come out of your paycheck, and if they are being used to fuel drug habits, then you might as well be writing your check to the dealers themselves. I think this is a good idea and will help put some government spending back in check for those who deserve it (that is of course not to say that everyone who illegitimately collects welfare does drugs, but probably a reasonable enough percentage do). I do not think this is a violation of rights, as those who are doing nothing wrong have nothing to fear; and you probably aren't going to be hassled enough to where you are severely interrupted from your day to day activities (what are you going to miss when you're taking a drug test? Certainly not work lol). |

Ya I'm for it all the way. I still find it horrendously that many many people have to take mandatory random drug tests to get/keep a job. And yet the people on welfare are held to no such standard. Listen you need to put in some time busting your ass if you want to sit around and smoke weed all day like I do. |
