first off, are there any motorcycle enthusiasts on the forum? So here is my problem. I've been saving up to get a nice car for a couple years now, but I'm absolutely hooked on riding. My current car is a POS 2000 Honda Accord. Mechanically it is sound, but interior wise, it smells like a fast food restaurant bathroom, I'm pretty sure there's gum on my passenger seat (at least I hope it's gum), and my dumb-ass friend stepped on a quart of oil I had in the back seat and got it everywhere. It's also down on power, and my air-con sucks. On the other hand, I have my 2002 Kawasaki Ninja 500r, which I absolutely love, but could be a little more powerful imo (nothing wrong with it, it's just a 500cc) The dilemma: This showed up on Craigs list yesterday -[link]- I've been looking at Ducatis for a little bit now, and I would really like to own one. I figure I might be able to talk this guy to <10,000 if he doesn't sell it right away. However, this means I'll probably have to wait another year or two to get my car (looking at the 20 - 30,000 price range). What's the best course of action here? |

unless you live in the south, save for the car in my opinion i would love a motorcycle but thinking about paying that much money for something i could only drive 6 months out of the year at best (from south dakota so i guess depends on location) is hard for me to swallow but hey if you got the money and you like it a lot a lot, go for it |

why don't you go dish out $100 (ish) for a detail of your car. Go get your aircon charged ($50?) then if you really want, get the bike? | ||

that bike is not work 12k imo, I'd pay 7, but only because that's how much a ducati is worth to me. If you jizz every time you hear the name maybe blow your savings. I'd probably get a loan and buy through a dealer. btw people on craigslist act like depreciation isn't a thing, 600 miles or 6,000 it's used that fucking red is ugly. Car. Its just a smarter choice. The car will come in handy. In the mean time, get the honda professionally detailed and tuned up. EDIT: Oh and dont get me wrong.. i love bikes. I really really want one. Ive ridden dirtbikes off road since im 13 (10 years ago) and i just love it. But the past few years ive been taking it on the upstate roads and it just gives me the itch to buy a nice 600cc bike. But i know too many people who either died or became permanently injured from some stupid fucking moron in a car not paying attention. Maybe one day... Edited Thu Jul 14 2011, 12:26AM |
