Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Just realized I haven't made a thread about this yet. I bought a new car a couple months ago. 2004 350z touring edition: She was being a dirty girl, so I polished her up It was a once in a lifetime find. An 04 with only 18,000 miles on it. Every option available (except for the spoiler) installed. Still has the new car smell! The owner refused to drive on anything less than a sunny day, so he only put on 3000 miles a year. He was retiring and moving out to Montana, but the road he was going to live on wasn't paved yet, so he couldn't bring the car with him. He even tried to give it to his friend, but he was too tall and couldn't live with the car. I had been actively searching for a new car for just under 2 years at that point, waiting for the perfect opportunity, and just happened to see this guy's ad on autotrader (a site I had all but given up on, and was only checking once every few weeks) the day he posted it. Needless to say, patience pays off. Now I just have one question for Glitch; which supercharger should I get? Edited Wed May 09 2012, 11:47PM |

No major complaints. It only takes premium gas, but I knew that going into this. The high beams are a little dim, the low beams are HIDs, but they are angled too low, and to access any of the lights, the bumper has to come off (front and back lights). I can't seem to grasp the purpose of the two reflectors on the sides of the front bumper (they aren't blinkers, just reflectors). The back window is more or less pointless, as you can only see the car directly behind you. The speedometer is hard to see when your driving, but the instrument clusters in the middle of the dash has a digital speedometer function, so I use that instead. The in-dash gps is from 2004 and hasn't had an update since, but it seems to be just fine for where I do most pf my traveling (except Boston... but no gps will help you there). Road noise is a little loud (but I think of it as a way to hear when your riding over sand or gravel, and the car is angry at you for it). Other than that, I really love the car. It makes 286HP, weighs nothing, and is zippy as hell (even faster than my bike). Using the shifter feels like sex, and the exhaust note is one of the best around (on the quiet side, but sounds exotic). The ride is stiff and composed, absolutely no roll in turns, and the vicious limited slip differential is brilliant. I get turned heads and comments about it everywhere, even the guy doing my inspection sticker said it was an amazing car (and he had a 1969 GTO in his garage). |

You are now my arch nemesis. You do realize that exact car is the direct competitor to my 2004 Mazda RX-8. And the funny thing is, i got almost the exact same deal lmao! Im pretty sure i made a thread about my car a long while back. Mine, an 04, with 14K miles (46K on it now), fully loaded. The guy i bought it from only used it on Sunday's and always garaged it. Patience is definitely a virtue. My current baby is the last car i looked at all before giving up and picking a different car. Spotted on Auto-trader. Quickly to answer that question, grab a Petitt Supercharger. Those babies are hella reliable and can be pushed. Now i also know your pain about the lights. Mine too come with HID lows, but regular highs. I never changed the highs as i could care less. But i did change the bulbs in my lows from 4300K to 6000K. It's as white a light as you can get before it turns blue (actually has a tiny blue tint to it but barely noticeable). My parking lights are red LEDs and i converted my fogs to HIDs as well. Put it this way, driving up the country roads at night...it's like im driving a plane. The road noise is normal since we both have extremely stiff suspensions. But the tires also make a huge deal. Some summer tires sound louder than others. When you switch to winter tires (which im positive you will do come winter time), you will notice a drastic reduction in cabin noise. Toasty, are you my friend on Facebook? I forget. If you are then you should check out my album of my car. Shows all the work ive done to it so far (i do all my own work). I just had my bumper off and headlights removed this past Monday to change some bulbs and do some rewiring. EDIT: BTW, love it bro! Congrats!! It's much peppier on the launch than my car. And i love that "dirty whore" sound of an exhaust. Nothing like it. Edited Thu May 10 2012, 04:18AM |

Here is my light setup. Last summer i threw on the smoked clear corners. These are just my parking lights. These are my fogs and parking lights. What i usually drive around with until dark. All my lights. And my smoked clear corners. My facebook has all my pictures. |

The HID's are angled at the road for safety purposes, i believe. Mine are 7000k angled rather low but i find my highbeams to be very bright so i don't mind. Also i'm pretty sure the reflectors on the front bumper is a safety feature all cars must have. And tbh I think i would rather have a single or twin turbo than a supercharcher. Yeah, I looked into both. Bottom line is, if you just want raw, instant, horsepower and torque, yes a turbocharger is the way to go. If you want reliability, your car to still live a long life, and you plan on driving the car on the road (not the track) daily, supercharger is the way to go. Turbos run hot, since they run off of the exhaust gasses coming out of the engine and feed hot air into the engine, you need to add an intercooler as well. You would also need to put in a custom exhaust that could accommodate the turbo (probably need to do that with a super anyway, but not to such a degree where you need to modify the headers and cats to the point where they probably won't pass inspection). Not to mention you inherently run the risk of overboosting and boost spikes, which are a very bad. |
