As mentioned here, I'm looking for some feedback on SourceMod as an admin tool. I ask because it looks like MSP ("Mani mod") may be a noshow for the 8/21 release of CS:GO and, either way, I'm not really convinced that MSP is a requirement for a successful CS (Source or GO) server. SourceMod has been a way for me to implement awesome plugins, like cTB, but never really used as an admin by me on FT Classic (or elsewhere). I know some of you have experience with SM as an admin tool, and I would like to know what you like and dislike about it. I would also like to know what you think about the fact that the menu portion of SM (sorry, can't find the link that explained this...) appears to be broken in GO, so you have to enter all commands through the console. So, yeah... please discuss! |

From past experiences my only gripe about admin through sourcemod is how long it takes to process everything. quotations for names, proper id listings or punishments etc kinda suck typing out when you're trying to deal with it immediately. The toggle from mani's default @ is changed to ! & / accordingly but its buggy at best from the other servers i've used it in. example, [!ban steam 0:0:12345678 100] yields me an error where mani wouldn't. everything has to be precise, in quotes, or done through console. Even the admin menu has like 5 subcategories we'd have to memorize for punishments (what you want, what punishment you want, who, why, etc.) Granted its alot easier to deal with people now that they've taken out localized name changing, still takes time So personally i haven't had the best of luck with running admin through sourcemod. Could just be that the other servers didn't configure it right, but everythings just learning and getting use to it i suppose. EDIT: didn't see this part, but have you tested in game chat commands yet AP? Typing it in console isn't too bad just sm_action <target> time if needed, but the chat is def quicker Edited Mon Aug 06 2012, 01:17AM |
