Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

"Noah's Flood is a story, a fairy tale, a myth, and a lie, wrapped together in a Christian's Bible. In regards to observable evidence, it is completely impossible for such an event to happen. In this thread, I shall break down several important points that support the above statements. Point number 1: The Kiwi Impossibility How did non-swimming, flightless birds get from New Zealand to Iraq and back? Consider the Kiwi, a flightless, non-swimming bird. Now, according to the account of Noah's Ark and the following flood, all of the clean land-dwelling creatures were to go onto the Ark and be saved, to allow for them to repopulate the earth. However, you'll find that a problem arises, which is understandable considering the authors of the Bible were not exposed to such a thing: some animals are indigenous to some parts of the world. How does a non-flying, non-swimming bird get all the way from New Zealand in time for Noah to push off dock, and all the way back without issue? They are only found in that one part of the world, and no fossil has been found of them being anywhere else. So, we are left with two possibilities and thier conclusions: One, Kiwis were magically transported via God power (which makes no sense), or two, Noah's story is exactly that: A story. You can replace "kiwi" and "New Zealand" with any animal indigenous to its country. Point number 2: Death-Cheating Fish A Flood has impact on creatures in ways the ancient authors did not know. Another major point that the Biblical authors missed was the issue about fish. The sea-faring creatures were charged with keeping themselves alive, seeing as how they lived in the water, and a flood capable of going above Mt Ararat (the Ark's supposed rested place) would simply give them some new real estate. But, if anybody with a tropical fish knows, water isn't always water. The slightest change in water temperature, salination, pH, anything at all, would have dire effects on most of the marine life found around the world. Not to mention the 11 feet a minute of water that supposedly rained for 40 days and 40 nights would pretty much mix all the dirt and mud and rock with the water, to make an almost 2:1 ratio of mud to water, which would most certainly destoy the baleen whale's ability to feed on plankton throughout the 6 weeks of torrential downpours. So, we are given two answers: One, God magically made the water perfect in each area for things to live and made eating a non-issue (which makes no sense), or Noah's Flood was a story, nothing more. Its Written In Rock How a pile of slushy rock and water managed to shatter a story. Quick little geology quiz: what is sedimentary rock? It is rock that has been layered over time, from particles suspending in a solution (usually water), that collects over time. It usually forms from flows of water carrying minerals and rocks and they settle down, making layers. Now, lets bring this into Noah's time. The floodwaters are pouring down at 11 feet an hour. This number is astonishing, to the point where I wouldn't call it flooding, I'd call it hydraulic mining! Its like taking a powerwasher and shooting it onto dirt, you throw the dirt everywhere. Now, this mining process would simply wipe the earth clean of everything, which is clearly God's intention. However, the Bible's authors didn't take something into consideration (again!). That kind of water would dig to the point where there were only crystalline rocks, nothing more, just rock, everything would be washed to the bottom of the ocean. All of the sediment would be pushed into the Mariana Trench, which is nothing like what we see now. The Rock That Killed God The Green River Shale, and what it means about Noah's story The Green River Shale is something that you may not have heard of. Located in Wyoming, its possible the most chronologically rich single monument in the world. In its layers account for over 6 million years of history. Thinly sliced layers, 6 million of them, each with leaves and fossils and shells, all adding up to show that the earth is more than the 10,000 years old that the Bible could possibly state. This amazing collection of history would have been flushed out with the deep-impact mining of the flood waters, but alas, is present today. Not only does it cripples the Flood, it also brings the mythological aspects of Creationism to light." Do you think this evidence is enough to undermine the ibbles story? Nostrasamus said: I already covered this. The problem is not with the theory. It is with the estimate. And Noah's flood is covered in many different cultures. To deny the bible's account is one thing. But to deny several sources is foolish. Noahs Ark Found? -[link]- Edited Fri Dec 22 2006, 09:30PM |

Apparently these Christian Haters, forgot the meaning of faith, morals, and fables. Most of the stories of the bible are not meant to be taken literally, but are simply there to teach people a lesson on how to live, and what happens if we don't. If you are to take it literally, you should belive in devine intervention, and that God would help these animals for example, that can't fly to Iraq. God would most likely help them cross over, with a miracle of some sorts. Wu, this story you got from the news is exactly what pisses me off these days. Jews, make up stories on the news about catholics, just to prove them wrong and vice versa. So do Muslims, and others. If we choose to belive in something, and in the miracles of God to help us live a better life, and help us deal with death better than just thinking "i will just rot in the ground" then so be it. I am SICK of people tryign to disprove each other's religions. This is not addressed at you Wu, it is at everyone who keeps making up these stories: If I choose to belive in something, let me belive in it, and shut the fuck up with bullshit trying to prove it wrong. I dont give a fuck if someone belives in Rocks being our Gods, and that sticks are the devil. If they choose to belive that let them BE! |

yeah, to back up the fact that the bible isn't to be taken literally, but to teach a lesson. Anywho i studied this story last year in religion. And there is some evidence that an actual flood did happen....not that there was some dude named noah that build a huge boat...but the flood is possible taken from a real flood that flooded a small city. i wish i could remeber the names of all of this..i'll try and look it up later. But you have to take into account....back the the world was alot smaller than it is now | ||

i agree. bible shouldnt be taken literally. It is mearly there to teach ppl/ I mean if u follow the bible to some extent you are a good person. You dont kill cheat lie steal. Well we all know we cheat lie steal and shit but hopefully we dont kill. Its just a guidline for living. I was raised catholic, baptised catholic, confirmed catholic. But i choose nto to be catholic. i choose to simply be Christian. There are a number of things i dont agree with the catholic church. But i still do believe in God and Christ. I may not be perfect. But believing in God and Christ makes me a better person and live better. It kept me out of trouble and in school. Kept me away from drugs. Or at least helped. Last semester i took a Philosophy class in college. MAN DID IT OPEN MY EYES. it was extrememly interesting and if I could sit in the class again i would. It basically made me question everything i believe in. It proved almost my whole religion wrong. but it did leave some room to question both sides. The point is this, if you believe in something then let it be. My g/f believes in God. She dont believe in Jesus. Shes jewish. But idc. that is wat she believes. That is wat she was brought up to believe. She is not less a person to believe in it. She is not dumber to believe in something that cannot be proven wrong or right. Neither am i. Its called faith. The saying i follow everyday of my life makes me a better person. I encourage you all to do so as well. "If it makes you happy regardless what it is, except if its evil, then pursue it till no end." Guys you only live once, so you might as live making yourself and everyone around you happy. Dont waste time proving other peoples religion wrong. Its nto worth it and it only lessens yourself. This is once again not directed to you Wu but to all the people who prove religion or try to prove it wrong. For all i know there is no God. But i believe their is and it makes me feel happier. Thats all that matters. Edited Sat Dec 23 2006, 02:16AM |

Thats all that matters. Athiests will never stop anyway, BECAUSE some christians interpret the bible too harshly. As soon as religion isn't used by others to push political agendas, make it seem that ignorance in life is fine, making people think it's okay to convert others and indoctrinate children, or fly planes into buildings. Yes, religion is responsible for countless atrocities throughout history, and that is absolutely sickening. But on the flipside, how many good things have happened because of religion? Countless things that don't get written in history books because they appear to be irrelevant, I can assure you. I don't think it's fair to depict religion as a tool that makes people act purely irrationaly, to which only deplorable acts can be attributed. Edited Sat Dec 23 2006, 03:18AM |

Reason #527 of why I love Wu: He can stir the shit pot to a fever pitch. Wu, you forgot another point about the Ark; incest. If only two of every animal were taken, then every species would have died out. For example, if "Penguin A" hooks up with "Penguin B" to create children (penguins C,D,E,F) who are kids going to fuck: their own parents or their own brothers and sisters? Nature loves diversity. That is why, for just about every species of animal, offspring conceived through incest (same direct bloodline) are not only sterile, but they usually die pretty quickly after birth.
