Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

OK so i am doing a report on how video games do NOT cause violence. It is a visual report and I am fighting our case good. I need screen shots of cs preferably office, i want shots of teh violence preferably bloody, and if at all possible some demos, if tthere can be demos i dont want any added music or anything just straight up cs shoot outs. Think about it you can be a star AND help the gamer casue.......and a fellow fishtanker............well much love and thanks in advance. PS any of you guys know where i can get some vid of any of the GTA games where it shows the main char hitting some one with a baseball bat...... |

Yea, I'm trying to figure that out too. I've argued this case many times, being a communications major and all, Video games are a big part of the medium right now. I've argued for, and against video games. The best advice I can give to you, because argueing that video games don't cause violence is a loseing argument, is to either talk about the up sides of such video games (like collateral learning and hand-eye cordination), or talk about how violent books can also cause the mind to see violent images. The best way to report about an argument is to not win the argument, but prevent the otherside from winning. You have a hard topic, since many people are against the topic. Good luck! |

alright. I'd like to also point out that the military uses videogames to de-sensitize their soilders so they can kill without remorse. Combatting that point is hard. Look out for stuff like that. And I wish I knew how to type better in my above statement. |

you may be right in a sense rusty.....but violence is NOT caused by video games, the people who go out and shoot up there schools do not just up and decide to do it after playing doom, they were already fucked up before, that is the point i am trying to prove............ | ||

Personally I think your taking a bad angle at fighting it. While being truthful about video games is a great thing being truthful and telling people everything are 2 completely different stories. There are a lot of good arguments that can be made like movies and TV are far more violent and they have more realistic violence. Video game gore is while looks cool not really that realistic most the time. If someone needs to play games to desensitize them then I think that these people are already fucked up. I play violent video games and have my entire life. I got no problems doing the most violent and bloody things in a game, but that is a video game and not real life. In real life I would have a lot of problems with what actions I take. You can fight that while some people are effected by the violence they also do give a great deal of help. RPGs are my favorite type of games and these games tend to teach a lot of logical thinking, puzzle solving, and have had test prove they increase intelligence. Also they are the way I learned to read. I didn't learn form books or anything of that type but RPGs lol. The games with a lot of text teach the kids to read very good like a long book. Also they can spark people's imagination and make them make up their own stories. Once again talking about myself I always loved them and I been writing my own small stories ever since. I always wanted to make cool storylines like those. At least back in the old day they had some great plots. Showing the people violence isn't going to help things at all though. They are way to swayed by the media and all the things that tell you that violence in video games is evil. This is what people think of when they think of violent video games. Penny arcade for the win. also I deleted your second thread that was just like this one. Edited Wed Mar 07 2007, 06:53PM |
