Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Ok, this has been in the news alot recently, and I want to know what you guys think. Did he deserve to get fired bt MSNBC and CBS? The outrage started last week, when Imus described the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos". Imus' remarks about the Rutgers players prompted eight companies to pull their ads from his show: Staples, General Motors, Sprint Nextel, GlaxoSmithKline, Procter & Gamble, PetMed Express, American Express and Bigelow Tea. What I think is more important though, are the the acts of one Al Sharpton. Seriously, the guy acts like he speaks for the black community, does he? heres a little quote from an article on CNN: Sharpton had pressured CBS to cancel Imus' morning show, but the issue "was never about Don Imus," he said Thursday. "It was about the misuse of the airwaves," he said. "We cannot afford a precedent established that the airwaves can be used to commercialize and mainstream sexism and racism. But there will be no champagne bottle popping by those of us involved in this. This is not about gloating," Sharpton said. what the fuck? misuse of the airwaves? I'm pretty sure thats what rap is too. He talks about the sexism that Imus used, but take a look at mainstream rap and you'll see practically every song (if you could even call it that) is sexist in some way. That shit's so degrading to women, it's not even funny .Finally, I want to see fat ass Al apologize to the Duke lacrosse players for calling them guilty and rapists. If Jessie Jackson can say "Hymie town" and Al can call jews "diamond merchants", why can't Imus say "nappy headed hos"? |

No I don't agree at all with MSNBC's decision to fire IMUS. The whole godamn thing is a bunch of bullshit. They've been talking about this on WEEI for the past week and a half and I've heard nothing condemning what IMUS said. Here's a few things to consider: Those companies pulling their ads from his show have been looking for a reason to do so for a long time. IMUS only had something like 4% of the country listening to his show, this just gave them an excuse. As far as Al Sharpton goes, what a media whore this guy is. Trying to appear heroic over something so trivial and stupid is absolutely lunacy. Turning EVERYTHING into a racial issue is this guy's only claim to fame and by now I think we can all see through his to his real agenda (it's all about me). And the Rutger's girls... how about when I forget who referred to the LA Lakers as a bunch of chest thumping black pimps. Did they go on national television and whine? Did what IMUS said to the relatively small amount of people actually impact them in ANYWAY shape or form. To me it just reinforces the notion that men are in fact stronger (or at least tougher skinned) than women and any MALE team would have shrugged this off like nothing happened. Because honestly... NOTHING DID HAPPEN. Hell I don't listen to IMUS and doubt anyone here does too. If it was for the stupid coach of Rutger's and Al Sharpton I WOULDN'T OF EVEN HEARD OF THIS. Now it's all I hear... It's amazing how a minority as small as that (the people who gave a shit, out of the 4% of people who actually heard it) can dominate the media medium for such a long time. Who gives a shit what this small special interest group thinks about? How about the rest of the nation... why don't we spend more time talking about eliminating the national debt, or developing DNA vaccines, or fighting poverty, or hunger or corruption in Washington... No fuck those problems. Let's talk about Don Imus calling the Rutger's women's basketball team "nappy headed hoes"... jesus christ. And we wonder why mostly every other country hates us... |

Since when does "Nappy Headed Ho" mean black? Nappy means nappy. Ho means ho. Unless they associate themselves with those words, then how do they even mean "black" at all? Whole thing is stupid. |

Imus described the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos". Okay please explain to me. Is Imus white/black? are the Rutgers women white/black. Nappy headed to me sounds like a slur against white people. ....and that video made me |

Imus has been talking about different groups for quite a while, and all of a sudden when he talks about black people, or they even think he is (nappy headed hoes) they get all deffensive and call it racism? Fuck you Al Sharpton, where were you when he was talking about Mexicans, Gays and Liberals, fuck you in your big black ass How long are they gonna "try and get black people into an equal society", with all this bullshit in saying that it was offensive and racist at the first sight of talking about black people. Like Noskill said, this guy is a media freak and loves to find anything that can be possibly turned into racism Hated the whole dispute. IMUS has been like this for quite some time talking about individual groups, why does it matter now that he talks about black people? |

Zero wrote ... Fuck you Al Sharpton, where were you when he was talking about Mexicans, Gays and Liberals, fuck you in your big black ass This is kind of interesting to me. Part of my thesis (The Allocation of Household Labor Among Same-Sex Couples) deals with the high rates of homophobia in the African-American community. African-Americans, as a group, tend to be much more homophobic than all other races/ethnic groups in the U.S. However, Zero, the argument you're making is childish. What you are basically saying is that "two wrongs make a right." Yes, African-Americans tend to be extremely homophobic, but that does not give any one the right to, in turn, bash African-Americans. One of my personal heros, Rev. Dr. MLK, once said that he wished we could all live "in a nation where [people] will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." If you want to hate Al Sharpton, that's fine. But, hate Al Sharpton for being Al Sharpton, not because he's black. I dislike Al Sharpton because, among other reasons, I think he's a hypocrite, not because I hate his "black ass". Don't stoop to his level. |
