Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

This year gas prices are estimated to reach over 4$ a gallon in the New England area alone. If everyone can boycott gas for 1 day prices will drop dramatically (20 to 30 cents) due to the fact that gas stations need to be selling gas 24/7 in order to show a profit. If you drive a car, I recomend you fill up now and do not buy gas on the 15th. If prices do not drop, continue to boycott gas the 15th of every month. Tell anyone and everyone. If we can not buy gas for one day a month, we can do a lot of damage. Help me partiipate in this.

.4ngryToasters wrote ... If you drive a car, I recomend you fill up now and do not buy gas on the 15th This is stupid. If you "fill up now" instead of the 15th, the same amount of gas is being purchased...just on a different day. In the end, the same amount of gas was purchased that month. It does not matter if 10,000 gallons was purchased in one day or if 5,000 gallons was purchased over two days. The end result is the same: 10,000 gallons was sold. Yay! I'm going to fill up my tank a day early! I'm going to buy $40 worth of gas on Tuesday so Exxon doesn't get my money on Wednesday! That'll teach them! They will still get my money when I fill up my car, but I'm going to make sure they get it on X day instead of Y day. Yeah, take that oil companies! You obviously have no idea how economics, supply, and demand work. It doesn't matter if you buy all the gas you need on one day, the end result does not change: the same amount of gas is being bought...only it's on one day instead of being spread out. Let me put it another way. Let's say that you and a friend smoke one pack of cigarettes every week. It takes you both one whole week to smoke one pack. Now, you decide to "stick it to Phillip Morris" by not smoking all week. Instead, you and your friend decide to smoke the entire pack in one day. That does not hurt Phillip Morris because the same amount of cigarettes was purchased. Do they care that you smoked it in a week vs. one day? No. All they care about is you continuing to smoke at least a pack a week. Nothing changes. Gas is the same principle. Buying gas on one day vs. another will not affect the oil companies. You are still driving the same amount. You are still consuming the same amount of gas. If you want to "do a lot of damage" to the oil companies, then sell your car and walk, ride a bike, or use mass transit. The "not buying gas on the 15th" campaign is stupid at best. Use your head. Think about what you are saying. Edited Sat May 12 2007, 04:48AM |

I know how economics work fetus, no need to call me stupid for making a good suggestion. It may not be a huge economic blow, but the idea behind it is a huge mental blow to oil companies, showing them that we can act together will do something allright. Besides, I use my car as little as possible already, I own a road bike and that does me just fine getting to nearby places and running errands. Ive been on the same tank of gas for over two weeks now, and I still have half a tank left. I don't plan on filling up until the end of this week. |

Either sell the car, or get in line like the rest of us and support terrorism like a good American. Besides, the largest comsumer of oil is not the gas you put in your car, it's the plastics used to make just about everything we own. Throw out all your plastics, and refuse to buy anything plastic ever again, and then you may make a small pin-hole of a difference. Yes, that includes the computer you're sitting at right now. You supported big oil by buying that computer. Most of the components of your machine are plastic (keyboard, mouse, moniter, mother board, etc.) Anything short of that and there is no point. Dude, that picture is funny. It's backwards...like your argument. You use oil (gas) and oil-based consumables (plastics), then you complain about the price of oil. Edited Sat May 12 2007, 05:54AM |

the only way i can see something like this working is if for an entire week, people who CAN walk or bike places DO instead of using their car. a day would be almost meaningless in my eyes, though.

so all of you would rather pay 4 dollars a gallon than try something? i'd try it but i don't drive xDD and fetus your comment was wrong about the 'fill it up now' statement. if you fill it up now, prices aren't as high as it would on the 15th. thats what toasters is getting at. i'm all for angry on this one. |

I'm sure a gas station can go for a few days without selling gas, but can you drive a few days without fuel? So when you go to fill up with the thousands of other people who boycott or whatever, the prices skyrocket, and oh noes, you're paying a lot again!!
