Anyone know some decent radars that i can find like in a store that are like under $250? I would pay more but i have to pay back my car also, so i need a decent for a good price. radar as in a a police radar?lol One that lets you know if there is a cop nearby using a radar? If so, forget circuit city. Or best buy. Go to a private store of some sort. If you are going to a big city, then drive around some small neighborhood, ask around and find a small shop. Its usually a small neighborhood shop that hooks up cars and shit like that. They would have some really good ones in there. I dont know models, but any of them are pretty damn good at $300 range. |

I work at best buy, if you're gonna get a semi good one at an electronics store like that, make sure you use a friends discount. 45% off my radar detector was banginnnnnnnnnnnn! =D | ||

First, there are two types of systems police use today's day and age. Radar and Lidar. Radar runs continuously but only picks up the large object due to the large beam it sends out. The beam hits an object and returns to the gun giving a speed read out. Hence, if you are in a Civic next to a Ford F-150, the radar will only pick up the F-150 so make sure you don't go blowing by the bigger car if you see a cop. Radar detectors are illegal in most states like Virginia. They do have an on/off and a standby button so we can kick it on when we see someone we think is speeding. The intent is to try and get their speed on the radar unit before they figure out what's going on. Or if detectors are illegal like they are in VA, you turn it on to screw with people, see who hits their brakes, then pull them over and give them a ticket for having an illegal radar detector. Lidar is the new toy for police. There is no way to beat it. Trust me. We all took part in trying to find ways to beat it before we put it into play. The system is simple. You push the trigger and it sends out a beam that doesn't spread very far at all allowing you to pinpoint one car and only one car in the beam's crosshair. A mile out, the beam only spread 3 feet wide allowing us to be sure we were only getting the readout for one vehicle. This was all proven scientifically so trust me when I say you aren't going to beat a Lidar unit. They are really expensive though so a lot of places don't have them yet but they are the future. Especially since they return not only the speed but the exact distance at which the system figured out your speed. So, now that you understand there are two systems police use today we can start to talk about radar detectors. Here are four sites which you can do research on about radar detectors. We used to look through a lot of sites when I was a cop to see what the new technology was so that we could figure out how to beat it. My suggestion to you if you are going to drop a couple hundred dollars is to research specific brands, narrow it down to 2 or 3 models, then google those models so you can find forums that talk about positives and negatives. I know it's a ton of work but if you are spending money it's worth the time to do your research. Consumer Search - -[link]- Radar Test - -[link]- 007 Radar - -[link]- Speed Measurement Laboratories - -[link]- Speed Measurement was one of the main sites that we went to so I would highly recommend starting your research there. If you still want more sites to look through then just google it and you will find thousands of sites and forums. Happy hunting and good luck. Fuck that, i always go atleast 5 over and 10 over alot of places. Ty for these sites, i will proab go out monday to savannah b/c i want $100 more dollars before i go b/c i only have $140 (sux paying back rents for my car).
