Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

If you don't want to read through all my bullshit, skip straight to "The Hop." The rest is just mostly tips and explanations that you can discover yourself through experience Introduction: Keep these things in mind before you try bunny hopping: Bunny hopping takes a lot of patience to master. If you want to master it you must constantly practice because it is a matter of muscle memory. Treat it like you would treat riding a bike, throwing a football, or learning music. Also, remember that bunny hopping is primarily about having fun. It is not just about improving your frag count. If you start hopping with that mentality you will be sorely disappointed. That being said, bunny hopping is a great way to take your skills to a new level. It is a very powerful tool that you will never harness completely. Basics: Bunny hopping is possible because of a physic that is built into all quake engine games. The game allows you to accelerate in midair if you strafe and turn with the mouse in the same direction. I like to call this air strafing even though I don't believe it is technically the correct term. A good way to get a feeling for air strafing is to use low gravity or even zero gravity. Try going to a map with a large open space and a platform nearby like he_dodgeball (if you don't have dodgeball, de_cbble is also good). Stand on the platform and type “sv_gravity 0” in console (default is 800). Walk out into midair and try strafing and turning SMOOTHLY with the mouse in the same direction. DO NOT PRESS FORWARD; only press left or right. Feel free to change directions all you want and play around with this a bit. If you do this right you should pick up a lot of speed. Do you notice that if you turn too sharply you will slow down? That is because how quickly you can turn is limited by the sv_airaccelerate value. The default is 10; 20 is very high; and the scoutzknivez map uses a value of 500, which is overkill. Play around with that value a bit if you want to see how it affects air strafing. Flying around like this is great, but if gravity is turned on you will slow down to normal speed once you hit the ground. The only way to avoid this is to jump the instant you hit the ground. Theoretically, you could time your jumps perfectly to avoid slowing down. However if your timing is off by even a millisecond you will slow down a lot. The only solution to this (outside of using scripts or hacks) is binding the jump key to the mouse wheel. You will still slow down a bit, but it will be a manageable disadvantage. In your autoexec.cfg type the following: bind mwheeldown “+jump” bind mwheelup “+jump” bind space “+jump” This allows you to jump using space bar like normal, but also to use the mousewheel at the same time. See “The Mousewheel” and the "Creating an Autoexec File" sections for more details. Next, try air strafing with low gravity. Type “sv_gravity 200” in console. Jump up and start air strafing. When you are about to hit the ground roll the mousewheel. Again, remember not press forward, and always strafe and turn in the same direction. Hopefully, you will be able to pick up quite a bit of speed. Now you should be ready to try bunny hopping with normal physics. The Hop: It is best to start off your first jump with a running start. So run forward until you reach maximum speed. Once you are running full speed, three things must happen very quickly at the beginning of the jump. First, let go of the forward key and press down one of the strafe keys (left or right). Second, scroll the mouse to jump. And third, begin turning the mouse smoothly in the same direction as the strafe key. Once you are in midair continue to hold down the strafe key (DON'T PRESS FORWARD) and turn SMOOTHLY in the same direction. This should feel similar to the low gravity jumping, and total angle that you turn should be about 35 degrees for a jump on flat ground. If you are not sure how far to turn, watch some bunny hopping videos to get the feel for it. Right before you hit the ground you can change the direction that you are strafing and the direction that you are turning (you can keep moving in the same direction if you want - just remember to always strafe and turn in the same direction). Jump immediately when you hit the ground and repeat the above processes. Practice this over and over again. It is a rhythm that you need to have ingrained in your fingers. Troubleshooting: Here are all the things I can think of that can cause your hop to fail: Turning and strafing in opposite directions. Changing strafe directions immediately after the jump as opposed to before. Turning too quickly Turning too slowly Poor jump timing Heavy server load Bad server tick rate Bad client rates Jumping uphill Jumping on bumpy surfaces (e.g. stairs) Running into a wall or ceiling Running into some newb that gets in the way Bad luck The Mousewheel: The easiest way to bunny hop is to use the mousewheel. There are two reasons for this. First, spinning the mousewheel makes it so you don't have to time your jumps perfectly. And second, pressing a keyboard button for jump tends to screw up your strafing. Here are a few tips on how to use the mousewheel properly: If you are still used to using spacebar for jump, go into your autoexec file and bind spacebar, mouse up, and mouse down to jump. Once you are used to using the mousewheel for jumping you can bind the spacebar to something better (I use spacebar instead of q for lastinv). If you still use the mousewheel to select your weapons, there is a script that will let you toggle between jumping and selecting weapons. However, I am not going to give this script because I think everyone should learn to select weapons with the number keys and hud_fastswitch enabled. This is much faster and more reliable once you get used to it. Using these new settings may be uncomfortable at first, but after a few days of playing with them they will seem natural. The most efficient way to use the mousewheel is to use both scroll up and scroll down to jump (e.g. first jump down, second jump up, third jump down, etc). This is not so important at first, but it is essential when you have jumps that are timed very closely together (jumping uphill). If you have a mouse with a “clicky” scroller, you may want to remove that “clicky” thing to get jumps that are spaced closer together. I can't tell you exactly how to do this. You just have open up your mouse and experiment. Personally, I couldn't remove the “clicky” thing, so I just filed down the plastic ridges with a nail file instead. Whatever works. I noticed a huge improvement in my hop after I did this. Creating an Autoexec File: To create an autoexec file go to steam/steamapps/<yourname>/counter-strike: source/cstrike/cfg. Create a new notepad document save it as “autoexec.cfg” this is a file that should automatically be executed when you start cs. Here you can type all the commands that you would normally type in the console. Sometimes counterstrike likes to unbind your keys if you have more than one key set to one action. The best solution to this that I have found is to bind a key to execute the autoexec file. (bind x “exec autoexec.cfg”) and press it whenever my keys become unbound. Tickrate: The problem that I most encounter with bunny hopping is poor server performance or tick rate. If you try to bunny hop on a game that you have hosted on your own computer or a server with a tick rate below 100 you will most likely fail. If the tick rate is too low the timing of your jumps will not be exact and your hop will randomly fail or lag out. It is still possible to bunny hop on these servers, but you must have excellent timing and be able to air strafe very well. If you can find an accelerated server with a tick rate of 500 or something it should be incredibly easy to bunny hop because every jump will be perfect. Also, if your own rates are messed up or you are getting excessive choke it may be hard to bunny hop. It can be hard to deal with these issues, but if you practice enough you should be able to manage a decent hop on most servers. Tips: Listening to the sound of your jumps is important. Normally, you make a sound when you jump off the ground and a sound when your feet hit the ground. However, with a good bunny hop you should only hear one sound when you bounce off the ground. If you are hearing two sounds then that means your timing isn't perfect. Even if you are using the mousewheel to jump, timing is still important. Make sure to start scrolling the mouse BEFORE you hit the ground. The faster you scroll, the more jumps you get, but the more accurate your timing has to be. Once you feel the rhythm of the hop you shouldn't have to think about timing as much. Try hopping down some slopes (de_cbble is a good map to try). The timing can be tough, but you will find that you start moving very fast very quickly. Jumping uphill on the other hand is a nightmare and should mostly be avoided. You don't always have to jump in the usual “left; right; left; right;” pattern. You can use any pattern you want (e.g. left; left; right; right; etc.). And you can even change direction in midair if you do it quick enough. Just remember to always strafe and turn in the same direction. On many maps there are low ceilings and doorways that you can easily run into. Try crouching while hopping through these areas. While you are crouched you can't turn very sharply or accelerate very fast, but you can still keep your speed while you pass through to a more open area. As with anything, practice makes perfect. Make sure that you are practicing properly though. If there is a problem, then try to isolate it and fix it. If you keep on practicing the same thing the wrong way you won't make any progress. Advanced Hopping: Sometimes its nice to be able to change weapons in midair. Bunny hopping with an awp isn't as fast as bunny hopping with a scout, but it's sure a lot faster than running. If you want to shoot things in mid hop, try using weapons like the smg's or the pump shotty. This is extremely hard, but it can be fun. Generally you want to avoid hopping while you're near enemies, but sometimes you can use this as a tactic to surprise them by quickly jumping around a corner or dodging sniper fire. You can also use air strafing and bunny hopping to do trick jumps that can get you into unusual places. Search google or youtube and you will find many videos and tutorials about this. There are even whole maps dedicated trick jumping and bunny hopping. Search for servers running maps with the “xc” prefix (e.g. xc_egypt). Have you mastered all of the above? Wait: there's more! Try bunny hopping backwards! You should be able to figure that one out fairly quickly on your own (just turn and strafe in opposite directions). Try spinning around and switching between hopping forwards and backwards in mid hop. Actually, it is even possible bunny hop sideways and diagonally as well. If you think about it I'm sure you can figure that out on your own as well. And that is only the beginning... Well, I think that sums it up. Suggestions and criticism are welcome, but don't spam my thread. Good luck, bunnies, and happy hopping! |

Im not very good at bhopping, And i cant take any credit for this post other than a quick compy and paste from my friends clan forums. A couple of their clan members made some guides and i thought i would share this one with you. But i hope it helped either way. |

Here is mdogg1108's guide to bunny hopping. Join the Fish Tank Surf server on CS:S 208.100.10.119:27015 Then jump around, you'll eventually get the hang of it. Easier way. |
