Rather than line up on the battlefield and shoot at each other, colonists used guerrilla warfare, snipers and hit and run parties to defeat our enemies. And we won. Many terrorist groups use this as a prime example in thier combat. They see that an overwhealming super-power like the British can be overcome by people devoted to their cause using guerrilla tactics. If you look at it, the revolutionary war was no different from the vietnam war (besides the modern weapons and the fact that the America had flipped sides). The glorified Minutemen were everyday citizens who would go out and attack the brittish with their hunting rifles and farming equipment. The NBA worked exactly the same way, and just like the British, we cut our losses and ran. Now we are fighting terrorists who work in the same way, following OUR example. Remember, just because they are terrorists, doesn't mean they are stupid. |
