Kali and i where thinking about a zombie server and we already came up with a few ideas. Lately me, him, and graffiti sometimes go to a zombie server after playing office. I think FTC would have the best zombie server available if alex decides to try it. There are many good maps and we could probably make many more with the skilled mapmakers we have here. Plus, maybe even a zombie clan. FTZ or something of the sort. We could have a seperate thread for map suggestions. this is just an idea for if we ever have an extra server and want to try to put it to good use. Edited Mon Jul 10 2006, 04:33AM |

Yes the Zombie servers are very cool and funny to play; I really think if we made a FTZ it would attract a lot of players... Zombie servers always have people on them, and if we had a server that had 20 slots them it would be a major hit I don’t know but it would be up to Alex we do have the FT server that is only used on Tuesdays I know Ft would not have a server but we could use FTC2… but I hope that Fish Tank can have a FTC1, FTC2, FTS and add on a FTZ server then our community would be awesome….. | ||

Hmm, i've been irritating people with this for a while. Zombie servers are kickass, they attract a huge ammount of people but are a pain in the ass to run. I love zombie mod, second only to surfing...sleep is 3rd. I'm glad to see this is in the forum so yay wu. Edited Mon Jul 10 2006, 06:20AM |

Actually I was thinking of scrapping FTC2 as well as the practice server, and putting a regular 24-28ish rotation server in their place. SRCDS just doesn't run that well on the Linux platform. It has frequently been described as poorly 'ported to Linux. I tend to agree. I ran two 20 slot servers on one system (FTC and FTC2), but after the past few Steam upgrades performance on the same equipment isn't what it used to be. Office is fun, and surfers have fun as well but there aren't many people that do both. A stock map server would help bring the office and surf freaks together. I'll post more about this on a seperate thread, later. I will provide as much emotional support as I can for a zombie server. Trust me, I'll be the first to cheer you two on. yea, Zombie server would be kick ass and it would make a lot of more people play.... now zombie servers are not that hard to run they may take some time to make and get ready but after that its mostly easy | ||

WOW WOW WOW! Didn’t Kermit make a full rotation server before? and look how that ended no one played on so he shut it down…. but FTC2 does not get that many players on it and FT practice server has no one on it, so if we wanted a server that brought FTS and FTC together then I think a Zombie server would be the best way to go. | ||

If it's easy what's holding you back? Bringing new servers into FT is an excellent idea. Again, I'll be the first to cheer you on in your endeavors. EDIT: Wow, this thread is getting busy. Let me try to respond to the recent posts that popped up while I was typing my response up. We have three very specific public servers right now, two of which are more-or-less identical -- FTC and FTC2. A full rotation server would give us a nice base that nearly every CS:S player could enjoy. This would also help round out the FT clan because we're providing basic maps as well as catering to office and surf junkies. If you're prepared to throw in a zombie server and FTC2 become a stock server... world domination follows. It's my turn to cheer on the idea of how another person should spend his or her time and money! Kalibur/Wu/Graf, rent a server and turn it into a zombie server. Shouldn't we have more servers? Sometimes I think I need to be knocked down a few notches. Seriously, if we get more servers involved in FT then less emphasis will be placed on me supposedly being in charge of nearly everything. I know I'm not in charge of everything but some people think I shit out servers for fuck's sake. If you have a good idea for a server don't feel like I need to give approval. I don’t work or have the money to rent/buy a server but you have 3 servers if you shut down FT practice and made FTC2 into a zombie server then that would be great... and i know you’re always interested in something new and a zombie server would be fun for everyone | ||

okay I understand what you're trying to say. But did we not try office extended? If office extended is more popular than a zombie server than fuck me sideways and call me mary. If SRCDS is DESCRIBED as running poorly on the Linux Platform then its not really a solid answer. The only way to find out would be to try it. I also think that if there was a zombie server, we could also promote our Fish Tank Classic 24/7 Office and Surf servers there, making FT a more popular place to play. I don't know if it is a bitch to set up a zombie server as I know nothing about making servers. Well, there you have it. | ||

I don't know why everyone likes zombie mod.. I don't really like it that much. If anything, I know alex isn't in charge of EVERYTHING, but I think it would be really cool if we changed ftc2 (don't get mad, just an idea, why 2 offices?), or ft practice (I hate to ditch the practice, but it would probably attract more people if we did this) to an all around custom/regular map server. Custom maps are just awsome, and EVERYONE loves a classic map once in a while. I'm not saying "ALEX YOU BUY A SERVER AND DO THIS" or "I'M GONNA BUY A SERVER AND DO THIS", I just wanted to see what you thought of ftc2, or ft practice (:(, maybe we could just lock it up during practice) into a custom/regular map server. Don't get mad at me because I suggested ditching FTC2, I just wanted to hear what you thought. |
