Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Sup guys, I need help with an essay about tragic heroes. The question is: To what extent can we empathize with them? and What can we learn from them? I'll appreciate any useful response, Thanks Edited Fri Apr 25 2008, 02:28PM |

I personally always use wikipedia to start papers off because 1, they probably have some useful information on the topic, and two, they give you citations and other references. so check out this, and also check out one of the resources, looks to be ok. -[link]- the link I was talking about from that is this -[link]- Edited Fri Apr 25 2008, 03:16PM |

The cemetery is full of hero's and assholes. Dont be either of them. And yes, wikipedia is a great source. I dont use it for citations, as many classes dont except it... but its great to get a good view on what your topic is about. Like a good summary. |

Easily, you do great things until you fuck up, then you realize it, and ta da, you're a tragic hero. Like uh... General Custer or the guy who was in charge of the Alamo... or the guy who died at the end of Saving Private Ryan or Darth Vader... there's a fuckin billion examples... relate to one and write about it. |

relating us with the tragic heroes is the hard part, not finding a story. Could you give one example? Once you give me one example it will start to get me rolling. Thanks |

I relate with General Custer because I'm a blow hard and rarely admit being wrong. Which has lead me to great success in my professional life. Life rewards the bold and those willing to take action in the face of adversity. This character trait has allowed me to accomplish goals that many people who never even set out to try because of the unlikely nature in their being successful. NOT I! Not NoSkill! No! I laugh in the face of adversity and challenge. And look! I'm one of the most successful assholes who have ever lived! But there will come a day. Much like Custer and the guy who ran the Alamo, that my courage will not be enough. That my determination and my boldness, will in fact fail me. Ha! How ironic! That which has brought me the greatest of successes that this earth has to offer will be the ultimate cause of my downfall! Bravery, courage, audacity! These things brought me triumph in life! But today... but today... they bring me death. Caution would have prevailed today. But how... how was one like me who has never used caution in his life supposed to act any differently? Was I wrong? Was I wrong for doing what I've always known to be right? Apparently today for the first, and last, time in my life. I was wrong. There. |

Dude you can go off on so many tangents. But who is right? What is right? Was Jesus right? Surely he was a tragic hero? How about the 911 hijackers, were they right? How about the fem-nazi who shot off Larry Flynt's balls? Was she right? Identify with someone who got fucked over in life and just write about why you felt they were right. Then talk about how in the end them being wrong taught you a greater lesson. Like Jesus for example. You empathized with him be cause he was kind and caring and promoted love and peace and humility. But then he ended getting murdered because he claimed to be the son of god. Moral of the story, be kind and caring and loving just don't be an arrogant prick and say you're the son of god... good advice for anyone. The End. |
