Woot. Time for some rock on music! Alternative rock is my favorite music. With artists like Pearl Jam, AFI, Sum 41, Rock Kills Kid, As Fast As (a local band), OK Go, Offspring, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, alternative rock ROCKS HARD! These are just some of my favorite bands. Check them out and maybe youll like them As for wu, you are welcome in my threads  Just dont post. Jk lol |

K, I listen to the last alternative rock station in SF, and it rocks. It's not my "main" music, but thats the best radio station I've ever heard. All those bands are good.  .P.S. here in new england, we get 92.1 FNX (107.1 in boston), and they had 40 days and 40 nights of commercial free music. it was awesome. Now theyre doing commercial few summer. Less commercials. Jimmy Eat World, Pearjam, Shinedown, Greenday, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Audioslave, Also what I've noticed is nobdy said Nirvana?????? WTF!!!?!?!?!?! Nirvana pretty much started alternitaive rock with their grundge rock music, break cd was called Nevermid. They are the ones you should be thanking for this music type, look em up! I can't belive nobody said Nirvana! |

Alternative rock is too much of a vauge catagory. First of all, Nirvana gets too much credit. Kurt gets too much credit, he is a shitty guitar player and a decent writer. Doing my research before post against you though, I have found that my thought that nirvana did not start alternative rock was correct. Alternative rock formed in the late 1970's by bands who did not want to play mainstream music in England. One of the first bands was the Cure. In America, this trend did not catch on untill the early 1980's with REM, the first Alternative Rock band (first album in 1983). Now I guess you could consider Grunge rock, Punk rock, college rock, or underground rock as part of this type of music. So as for my favorite bands, I still say REM, Evlis Costello, Midnight Oil. But now I add a few on that I can think of now. Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, oldschool Oasis, sound garden, Linkin Park, RHCP and have to pay tribute to the main influence of this music, the greatest underground rock band ever, The Velvet Underground. also Wu, Californication was good, but Blood Sugar Sex and Magik is their best, by sales. I think their early 80s stuff like RHCP, One Hot minute, Mothers MIlk and Freaky Styley are their best works! |
