You wanted an explanation from me so here it is. I would like to say to say to the community that I am sorry for the mis-management of FTC over the past month. Omni and I wanted to relocate the server initially which was a bad idea since it was already established and I admit that. FTe's first match server was a NFO and we as a team (everyone) had horrible experience with their "top of the line" servers so we developed a bias towards them. FTe then bought the Galore match server and still continues to use it. I personally saw Galore as a better host from my own personal experiences involving the NFO match and FTC servers. It was naive to think that a match server would emulate the resources needed for a 20 slot public server. Coming into the collection for donations I already had an intention for relocation the server from my own experiences on NFO servers. I had bad routing to their servers and horrible registration issues so it was my general bias towards NFO that forced the switch in providers. I believed we could get better performance from Galore since we got better performance on the FTe Galore match servers compared to our FTe NFO one. I also believed that the donations would go further by investing it in the Galore server since it ran cheaper. Once I started hear other people's complaints about the NFO FTC, I saw it as an opportunity to go forth in the relocation even though the NFO FTC was paid for until Aug 12th. It was selfish and I regret doing it. At first we wanted to preserve FTC as it was but we got carried away with the image of starting something new. I personally believed that admins were capable of balancing teams so we left out a ctb equivalent on the server initially. I thought how hard can it be? Just type ma_swapteam_d bob; ma_swapteam_d omni in console and we would get swapped at the end of the round. Pig thought that his money script on his server was working since it said that it dispersed $8000 per player but no one actually received it. So I tried out the bankmod just from a few people's suggestions since I saw it as a temporary fix for dealing with money and pig's issues with the cash script on his server. I removed the cash admin commands because or hearing complaints of admins being cash handing happy. So I took Noskill's advice and removed it but returned it later after removing bank mod. After hearing complaints from Memnoch about fellow admins not balancing I finally decided to get a team balance script. Pig found me ccb a team balance script similar to ctb but lacks the team cash features. Our only intention with the dead all talk was we thought it would make the game more social and fun since that was what we were there to do. It sounded like a great idea but turned out not to be one. I would of tested out these ideas before if we had a testing period for the server which we didn't get. I admit that I love tinkering and that is what got me in trouble since I have to experiment with new ideas. All these "improvements" were not improvements at all since what the community wanted was a continuation of FTC and I failed to see that. I view how I handled FTC as a fuck up because I placed my own intentions before those of the community and I deeply regret that. We had 0 intentions for the resignations to fall upon FTC's b-day since none of us had any idea that it was the next day. Us 4 decided that we would do it that day and when I went to post the thread that morning after I got home. I realized that it was FTC's b-day on the 1st but because we agreed that we were out that morning I posted. The Matador thing was a last minute idea that popped into our heads that night and was very stupid to pull. We had no intention to try to kill FT but the Matador stunt does convey that image. It was a miserable failure at a "ha ha" joke that is seen as a hate crime towards the community. After hearing suggestions on locking the thread would hopefully signal that we wanted to reduce the drama I did it. It wasn't giving the community the finger and leaving although it may seem. Collectively we fucked up simple as that me especially. I am not asking for forgiveness for what I did to this community just here to accept responsibility. It was a fun 2 years in the Tank and I thank you all for the great times. |

You dont need forgiving, because I was never angry at you. If it's cool with you, I'll get naked with you, and let kever watch? lol, but seriously, OH NO!! we had issues with the server, and the matador thing was personally hilarious, llol. The only ones that feel deserving of an apology are the higher ups that didn't know what was going on and didn't know what your motives were(formerly known as your colleagues) Goose, Noskill, Omni, etc. Otherwise I know whole-heartedly that all you wanted was the best for our community. So no hard feelings soft anus. |
