Don't forget to consider so called "off-brands" too. I've owned a "Raleigh" Mojave 8.0 Hardtail for single-tracking and new it cost me 600$. It rides like a frickin dream, and it comes with decent Avid disc brakes. I rode it really hard too, 6-8 foot flat drops and it is still in good shape. Im sure you can find a used bike like this for 2-400$ on Craigslist. By the way, "off-brands" does NOT imply Mongoose, Giant and other such wastes of metal. Do some reasearch! |
