Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

so I have this computer that needs to be reformatted every 30 days thanks to Bandito not getting me proper Windows installation disks. However, it doesn't need to be reformatted if you don't shutdown the computer for days on end. Butttt my power went out. So I once again reformatted, no biggy, but same problem as last time, I cannot get sound on this hunk of shit The computer is a Sony Vaio VGC-RB42G I downloaded all the drivers necessary, yet, just like last time, no sound drivers are recognized. I looked on vaio's customer support, I looked everywhere, can't find the driver to get the sound to work. any ideas ladys? anything would help ![]() |

ladies* ;D start -> run -> type "dxdiag" go to sound section, look at the sound card it says, run the tests it has, and download the drivers for the card it lists there. if it doesn't list one, chances are it's probably dicked or not installed right. |

NOTHING comes up for any sort of sound. I just reformatted, it's not reading anything but the drivers I installed. If it's dicked, than it's dicked, but what other options do I have? EDIT: I lied, when I run DXDIAG, this comes up, after I get an error message about something with sound, I run the sound test, and get this message "DirectSound test results: Failure at step 3 (DirectSoundCreate): HRESULT = 0x8878000a (The request failed because DirectSound resources, such as the priority level, were already in use by another caller.)" help plox? lol ur fucked. Sony is terrible at making computers. Buy Acer or Compaq/HP. Being the tech guy, all i can tell you is to reinstall the drivers yet again. You dont even have a seperate sound card, cuz yoru running onboard... so i cant help you there. I dont mean to be harsh.... but what and when did you pay for that computer? Tell me you only payed $400 like 6 years ago... cuz its terrible. 1gb of ddr 400mhz... P4.... onboard gfx... The only good thing in that whole system is the HDD and DvD drive. b4ndito wrote ... I can't afford the disks. Bitch about it. lol. It's actually something I'm going to look into. By this I mean, reformatting MY computer every month. It's recommended anyways. Better security, and it would always have my system running well. 1) I don't even have enough money to get MYself a computer 2) it was around $1000 for all of it but it's not my, it was my cousin's, and it was given to my sister 3) I know it's not the best computer, I'm just trying to get it sound! Why is it fucked? OBVIOUSLY it has the ability to have sound, I fucking had it working not two months ago. Why after a few reformats the sound doesn't work anymore? I'm sure this is fixable, I just need answers from the RIGHT people. You guys are right, I need new computers, but I'm working with what I've got here..... |

Try going to: Start Control panel System Hardware Tab Device manager Find your sound thingy in the list Go to drivers Click either "Roll back driver" or "find new drivers." If i think of anymore things i will let you know |

All of them always end up looking sexy, especially their new desktops....like the r2 head and the glass monitor ones. Granted their guts aren't always worth the price but hp/compaq/acer/gateway/dells look ass ugly. UGLYYYYY Anyways zero as far as your audio goes. You aren't mixing/matching driver sets are you? Like you aren't updating your mobo and using the old stock driver for sound right? |

Cha Siew Bao wrote ... You aren't mixing/matching driver sets are you? Like you aren't updating your mobo and using the old stock driver for sound right? Maybe this could be the problem? Everytime I reformat, I have about 6 files on THIS computer, that need to go onto the Vaio(via flash drive) Network Modem Video driver Sound and whatever else I got these downloads from tech support on Vaio's site. BUT, the list I got them from, was a list of "updates" and regular updates that that specific model needed. Maybe I mis installed something, and that is negatively affecting the sound? Idk, I'll look into it again. This is the site I got my downloads from: -[link]- Apparently I need to update my sound card driver, however I can't find ANYWHERE what sound card I have. Find me my update or a program that scans drivers and updates them Pleaseeee Edited Tue Oct 07 2008, 11:35PM |

You dont have a sound card. Your using onboard sound. Wherever you got your mobo drivers, they should also have the sound drivers to go with it. | ||
