Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

I've had it with my laptop, and I really need a system that can compile my maps in less than 12 hours. Also I didn't get my motorcycle license before the school shut down for the winter, so no point in me getting a bike till at least next year. Anyway, here's what I put together: Case - -[link]- note: this case is sick cause it comes with a removable mobo tray, and also has a compartment for a water cooling system (which I'm sure I will ad in the future) Mobo - -[link]- note: the memory is a combo deal with this mobo, so that takes $30 off the final price CPU - -[link]- PSU - -[link]- note: the cpu and psu are a combo package, so that takes $150 off my final price Memory - -[link]- Video card - -[link]- If you're wondering why there aren't any hard drives or disc drives, there is a good reason for that. I work for best buy and can get them there cheaper than at newegg cause of my discount. So what you think? discuss Edited Wed Oct 08 2008, 03:16AM |

not bad. I like the case. I like the vid card. I like the memory. The mobo i dont trust too much, since i dont trust ASUS in general and there tech support is such garbage. Mobo's and gfx cards i always buy from EVAG cuz they got the most and best reviews, the best tech support, and overclocking is covered under there lifetime warranty. The power supply is "ok." Rosewill makes certain things very well, im not sure if this is one of them. Check out the one in my build. The processor is a bit expensive. try the one i have listed in my build. Its like $200 cheaper and they just started shipping the E0 stepping a week ago. Basically, that means the new one is much much easier to OC on air and you can get it up to 3.6ghz without even changing the voltage settings. It has an unlocked multiplier. Other then that, pretty solid build. Here is my winter build. Its from the ground up, so thats why its super expensive. If you want, you can pick out some stuff from it to add to yours. Ive done months of research and hours upon hours of forum browsing to see if the system will run excellent together. -[link]- It will scream Crysis and Far Cry 2 at max settings with average of hopefully 60fps Edited Tue Oct 07 2008, 03:20AM |

But if you want all out, and future proof mobo, go witht he new 790i FTW edition. They worked out all the kinks with the previous 790 and it now works flawlessly. Its that ASUS board but better, and its $100 cheaper lol... -[link]- Edited Tue Oct 07 2008, 02:01AM |

Great call on the mobo glitch. I was actually kinda iffy on the asus cause some of the comments mentioned the heat sinks for it had huge gaps between the hardware. but that's why I post this stuff on the forums before I waste my cash lol. I edited my original post to include the mobo and ram that goes with it |

I have that case its nice and spacey but all in all it weighs about 75 pounds. It's great for hiding wires and all the stuff. | ||

It was having some hiccups with the RAM, but when flashed, hiccups went away for good instantly. EDIT: Look at my original edited post and read what i said about the processor. Then look at the combo deal -[link]- and buy a new fan/heatsink -[link]- Edited Tue Oct 07 2008, 03:23AM |

UPDATE: I changed the processor to the q9550, and the power supply that comes with it. I save about 200$ for a cpu that is basically the same as the 9650, and another 150$ with the psu combo. just found this: -[link]- I'm swapping out my memory for something a little less expensive, since the board only supports up to 1600, not 2000 (also I will know this will work with my mobo cause a lot of people on the evga site use this exact memory with the 790i board). with all the money that I have saved so far, I might put that towards a GTX 280 vid card instead of the GT2 9800 lol Glitch just so you know, you are my hero. Anytime bro. Now i was gonna say, that for the same price as the GTX280, you could get 2 GTX260's, and run the 280 into the ground. However, you wanted future-proof all out, so go witht he 280, and later on down the road, you could always add a second. =) Good luck with your new build bro, and i pray you get no DOAs. EVGA does better on delivering the first time then any competitors though. |

ok, I saw a lot of the reviews for the Rosewell psu, and about a third of them were complaining about total psu failure, or frying other componants. So I got the combo deal with the graphics card and got a 1000W silverstone psu. It's a little more expensive, but at least it wont fry my videocard and I'll have plenty of power to spare for future expansion. THIS IS THE FINAL BUILD: -[link]- *link fixed* Edited Sat Oct 18 2008, 04:38AM |
