k, god has informed me that they dont make AGP graphix cards anymore? well i guess my comp needs AGP even though its only a year fuckin old and i coulda swore it had PCI ..... w/e, i need help with finding a new graphix card and possibly 512 gb sitck of ram, if anyone could help me find a nice car it would be greatly appriciated. Poe ps (still dont understand the difference of AGP and PCI or PCI-E) help with that would be nice also |

Well I worked at BestBuy, and i quit recently, but I can tell you that they defiently have AGP graphics card, but you also might want to check out -[link]- <- they have a good selection of everything or just check -[link]- I have PCI and from my understanding AGP is slower speed then PCI, and I think PCI-E is the fastest you can get |

Well I screwed up, AGP is actually faster then PCI, AGP has alittle more FPS than PCI |

I have an AGP card. The card that is in my pc right now is 7600 GS OC 512 MB card. It's a darn good card and I only payed 150 bucks for it. I suggest you get this card. In my opinion, it's the best AGP card that is out there. Search it on -[link]- | ||

But PCI-E or PCI Express is a lot faster then anythign else since in order to run it u need a PCI Express motherboard made specifically for that setep. This particular setup is awsoem because with PCI Express you can hook up two graphics cards to eachother to double your performance therefore creating the ultimate PC. Take two PCI Express NVidia GeForce 7800's and link em together and u have t3h pWnZ0rs pC. If you want PC ANYTHING go to Newegg.com its the best site for shit like that, or Tigerdirect.com I get all my PC parts from those two sites. I built mine, and two of my freinds PC from them. 2 years and not a problem. IF you want an AGP 4x/8x like mine you can go with one similar to mine which works with every game i have so far and runs CSS excellent at 60-90fps with certain settings. -[link]- This piece of shit i just noticed is only $99 lol. fuckign thing was 200 two years ago.. X_X If you want something AGP that is much better and only $30 more u can get this -[link]- if you want good vid cards go with BFG or XFX. i use XFX currently and they rock. not one problem. If you really wanna up your performance gow ith this one -[link]- Its one of the only AGP 7 series that they make. Very good though. I am upgrading to this one or one more step above it soon. Now if you want to change your whole System to PCI Express you would get this card with SLI (hook two up together) -[link]- BUY two of those and buy this motherboard -[link]- and you are set lol If your rich and u wanna spend some money.. Buy that motherboard and buy this -[link]- Now i can help you with ram... but i need to know what kind of Motherboard you have so i can see wat kind of RAM your motherboard can use. Get back to me. |

I agree with Glitch that the best places to buy computer materials is NewEgg.com or TigerDirect.com. I have ordered multiple parts from both sites when I built my own gaming rig to try and pwn people on the Office server. Both sites get my seal of approval. If you are going to get a new motherboard, you are going to have to make sure the processor, RAM, and video card are all compatible with the new motherboard. Here's some information on the three different types like you asked for. Information retrieved from wikipedia and posted in here so you wouldn't have to link out to another site to read it. AGP - -[link]- The Accelerated Graphics Port (also called Advanced Graphics Port) is a high-speed point-to-point channel for attaching a graphics card to a computer's motherboard, primarily to assist in the acceleration of 3D computer graphics. Some motherboards have been built with multiple independent AGP slots. AGP is currently being phased out in favor of PCI Express. Advantages over PCI As computers became increasingly graphically oriented, successive generations of graphics adapters began to push the limits of the PCI bus, leading to the development of the AGP bus, dedicated to graphics adapters. Most motherboards manufactured since the late 1990s include either an on-board integrated AGP adapter, or a physical AGP slot into which a separate AGP-based graphics card can be inserted. For the needs of modern graphics adapters, the AGP bus is superior to PCI because it provides a dedicated pathway between the slot and the processor, allowing for faster communication between the two. AGP also uses sideband addressing, meaning that addressing for packets is carried outside of the packet, so the entire packet does not need to be read to get addressing information. In addition, to load a texture, a PCI graphics card must copy it from the system's RAM into the card's framebuffer, whereas an AGP card is capable of reading textures directly from system RAM using the Graphics Address Remapping Table (GART). GART reapportions main memory for texture storage, allowing the graphics card to access them directly. The two main reasons graphics cards with the PCI interface are still produced is that first, they can be used in nearly any PC; though some motherboards with built-in graphics adapters lack an AGP slot, few if any modern desktop PCs do not have PCI slots. Second, a user with an appropriate operating system can use several PCI graphics cards (or several PCI graphics cards in combination with one AGP card) simultaneously — to give many different video outputs (for the use of many screens). This is almost impossible with AGP 1.0 (early AGP 1x and 2x) and AGP 2.0 (AGP 4x) cards, because they do not support more than one AGP Master (video card) per AGP Target (chipset interface); AGP 3.0 (AGP 8x) does support more than one AGP Master per AGP Target, but nonetheless few PC motherboards are equipped with more than one AGP slot (if any). Some server-class computers support having multiple AGP slots in a single system: the HP AlphaServer GS1280 has up to 16 AGP slots, the AlphaServer ES80 up to 4 AGP slots, and the AlphaServer ES47 up to 2 AGP slots. PCI - -[link]- The Peripheral Component Interconnect, or PCI Standard (in practice almost always shortened to PCI) specifies a computer bus for attaching peripheral devices to a computer motherboard. These devices can take any one of the following forms: * An integrated circuit fitted onto the motherboard itself, called a planar device in the PCI specification. * An expansion card that fits in sockets. The PCI bus is common in modern PCs, where it has displaced ISA and VESA Local Bus as the standard expansion bus, but it also appears in many other computer types. The bus will eventually be succeeded by PCI Express, which is standard in most new computers, and other technologies. The PCI specification covers the physical size of the bus (including wire spacing), electrical characteristics, bus timing, and protocols. With a maximum of 32 lanes, PCIe allows for a total combined transfer rate of 8 GB/s. To put these figures into perspective, a single lane has nearly twice the data rate of normal PCI, a four lane slot has a comparable data rate to the fastest version of PCI-X, and an eight lane slot has a data rate comparable to the fastest version of AGP.
