| Comp back, but all messed up | ||

Ok, so i got my comp back, and it boots. But now it boots off my new hard drive, and all my files were on my old hd. I took all of the programs from program files and transferred them to this hard drive. Im having a few problems though. A couple programs start up, but they dont do anything. I downloaded the flash player installation, but it doesnt install. I downloaded java, but it doesnt install either. My internet is down to 8kbps. What the hell is going on??? u have no luck do you emeri lol. I wish i could help you with this one.. but i know hardware only lol. I can tell you one thing. I saved all my movies once to a CD and when i re-formatted my hard drive, and put the movies back on my PC, they didnt work. So i lost all of them.. 4 hours worth of movies and clips. Im sure someone else can help u with this. |

Well here is at least part of the problem. Not all files needed to run the programs are included in Program Files. Also because your registry does not have the entries for those programs they shouldn't work. The only thing that I could recommend for you to do is to take all of the documents off of your old hard drive that you need and reinstall all the programs on your new hard drive. Either that or if you still have your old hard drive completely intact then you should be able to use a program to make an image of it and then install that image onto the new hard drive thus making it the exact same as the old one. I am not going to lie but I dont know to much about that, My first suggection is the call the maker of the hard drive and check their website for tech support, My 2nd suggestion is to take it to Geek Squad at BestBuy, it costs money but they can figure everything out -Eric |

Whenever you take things out of the program files folder, they're almost guaranteed not to work. You have to either reinstall, or just not use them. That's how things work with hard drive transferring. It's nothing the hard drive manufactuerers can fix, it's the progams fault. You can't move them. | ||
