| "This Steam account does not own this game" problem | ||

hey all, i've heard some people are having problems with Steam kicking them off because it says they do not own the game. this happened to me and it is a quick fix: -go into your Steam directory "C:\Program Files\Steam". -find the file named ClientRegistry.blob and delete it. -reconnect to Steam (Steam will perform an update). -good to go! |

..the game. this happened to me and it is a quick fix:..yeah it happened to me. i searched for the error message and found it in a forum. kddude there was issues with ClientRegistry.blob last year, but it was for a different problem. people with certain video cards would have their game crash because of a corrupt ClientRegistry.blob, but the fix was the same. just delete the file  Edited Sun Jan 28 2007, 09:43PM |

I had this problem about a week ago but all I had to do was restart Steam twice and it was fixed. And it hasn't happened since. And the last time that this happened it didn't even affect me. Most of the time Steam errors do not affect me for some reason. Like when the power went out and nobody could play Counter Strike, for some reason me and a few other people could. I don't know why, I guess I'm one of the lucky people. | ||

Deleting the "ClientRegistry.blob" has solved 99.9% of my Steam related issues from not letting me sign in, to 'invalid USERID ticket' and the Steampowered. com forums show that users deleted to solve many more issues as well. If Steam is acting screwey, this should be step #1. But that's just my personal experience.

yea about 2 weeks ago i had the same problem. I was about to go to FTc and it said my account didnt own the game. And it said i didnt own any of the 12 games i bought from steam lol. i was like OMGOMGOMGOMGOM NOOOOOOO!!!!! But i didnt panic.. all i did was restart steam and relog in twice. And it worked.... Weird.. | ||

I find that this problem usually fixes itself not long after you get it. Wait a half hour or so and it normally works without changing anything at all. | ||
