Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Ok I have read the reviews, and heard countless people say blu-ray is amazing. And as you all know ((most of you atleast)) I am building a gaming rig. The reason I started this thread is to get your guy's opinion on whether i should go with a Blu-ray disc player or not. I have made quite a bit of cut backs on things such as processor and screen size/type, i have saved about 800. Is a Blu-ray disc driver/burner really worth 600. Even if you know nothing about specs and what not, input such as "Man i watched a Blu ray movie and the picture pwned" will be helpul. Thanks ahead of time, I know you guys will pull through as usual. |

Just wait for a while for the price to drop and the speed to increase. As of right now, the writing speed is 2x but the burn speed is slower than a dvd so it will take a while to burn a blue ray disc. I am looking at getting one for my mce computer so I can burn hd blue-ray stuff like baseball and football. Blue-ray is amazing but costs way to much. Go for it if you want to but remember blue-ray discs cost like $13 for a Blue-Ray R not a RW. Edited Tue Jan 30 2007, 11:12PM |

do NOT buy a blu-ray/HD-DVD drive right now. mebbe in 6-12 months, but it's just not worth the money at this point in time. you can get a high-end DVD burner for 50 bucks, so just get that. then, when the prices come down, disc drives are super easy to swap out if you have the right case. PLUS, disc drives in the future will be able to support both blu-ray AND hddvd in addition to being cheaper once everyone starts makin 'em. so, unless you a baller and you want to show off your blingin blu-ray disc drive and wait a LONG time (hours) for your discs to burn, i say wait. |

I concur with Jigg. My advice is to not buy a blu-ray now. You will have the opportunity down the line to buy one once the prices drop and there is more competition on the market with producing the product.

Blu ray is similar to the beta deck vhs. By saying that I mean, yes it is more powerful than a dvd, but it came out too late and the market is majorly for dvd's and hd-dvd's. So don't be surprised if all of the sudden you see them start to fade out of existance (with compatability issues I might add) over the next few years. I don't think a blu ray drive would be a good investment at all as it probably will never take off in popularity.
