COMPUTER..... My friend and I were taking the subwoofers and amplifier out of my moms truck. The stereo stuff is worth some money, (maybe) and it would cost to much to add it to my existing car system. And I think this could be a could project to mess with before I build my own system. So tell me what you guys think. Also I have a plan to fill a room with computers and fill the computers with games, so this COULD be the beginning of that dream. |

Nate... HERE WE GO! First i have to say, that system looks very similar to mine now lol. Cept i have a 3.2ghz P4 cpu, and a NVidia GeForce 6800..(now overclocked thanks to me =P). I would have to ask you what car stereo system u have. What exactly is it.. I am good with those.. i have a system in my car i built and installed myself.. (Custom.. ill soon post pics on the forums). So let me know exactly what it is and ill tell you what is worth more.. the PC or the System. Im a very good handyman as you can tell lol. |

Mines better. First of all glitch i ask you if you are a serious gamer. If so why did you go with an Intel proc? AMD is the sheazy for gaming, the parts I just ordered on ebay for my upgrade are.... ~AMD Athlon 64 4200+ X2 Dual-Core CPU AM2 Combo ~Kingston 1GB DDR2 PC2-4200 533MHz 240 Pin KVR533D2/1GR ~New XFX nVidia GeForce 7600GS 256MB DDR2 7600 GS SLi GT All in all i onluy spent $560 canadian on that. Oh and BTW nVidia is teh way betters than ATI. |

Oh and if you havent bought your ram yet, i suggest that you buy a 1 gig stick instead of 2 512's cause the 1 gig will give you more slots for more ram if you wanna add some more later on. | ||

i agree with grif on the Nvidia better then ATI thing. And i agree with the RAM thing as well. Grif.. about me using P4.. Its a long story. To make it real short, i built my PC when i was still into Console systems. Plus this wonderful PC of mine was cheap at the time, not to mention it used to be a Dell...lol I wanted a new case and new RAM. So i bought a new case and new RAM. The ram i bought wasnt the right ram for my dell motherboard because i was newb at the time and didnt know much. This started my interest in PC's. Thus bringing me to my current state. Anywayz, the dell MB was micro atx which didnt fit into my new case. So i bought an ATX MB that used my RAM i bought and the P4 the dell came with. The cpu the dell came with was a 2.4ghz P4. So then i just up'd to a 3.2 |

Nostie don't be so sarcastic. Agreed on P4 sucking for gaming, mine is horrible. I don't get that high of FPS at all but I have a question, sort of stupid. If I get an AMD processor can I still run my AGP graphics card (7600 GS Overclocked 512). I would need some help setting that shit up since I've never done it before, but I'd like to learn. I'm thinking of getting a Duel Core Processor instead of this shitty P4. I think it would greatly improve my frame rate in game. Edited Wed Jan 31 2007, 04:56AM | ||

Ok well I dont claim to be an expert or anything but ill give you my advice. Its not the processor that matters when your talking about compatability VS video cards and such. Its all in the motherboard, if you buy a mother board that is AGP 8X compatible then you golden. Dual cores are fairly expensive, but i definately suggest taking the high road and going with AMD. If you want a decent AMD dualcore i suggest you go over to Ebay and check out processors, then scrole though them and you will find motherbard and processor combos mixed throughout. If you want an AMD X2 3800 and compatible Motherboard then this will ruin you about 200 bucks give or take plus shipping CDN. Now heres the catch with buyingand AMD dual core processor, the motherboard uses eh AM2 socket set which means you will have to buy DDR2 ram, it is not backwards compatible with regular DDR ram, so theres another 100 dollars give or take. As for improving your framerate CSS is not designed to support dualcore processors so the only improvemnt will come from the overal more power, and the improved efficiency of the motherboard, as well as he ddr2 ram. Most games like Doom3, get a lot of FPS from processors lol. But CSS, gets most of its FPS from the Vid Card itself. If you are going with something new i say go with the top of the line AMD and a compatible motherboard. THEN, make sure you go PCI-E with SLI compatibility. Everything else will be obsolete given the time. But if you wanna stick with your AGP liek i am going to have to for a while and use AMD... then go with -[link]- or -[link]- they both suck imo.. I for some reason cant find anything better... Thats another reason i went with P4 at the time. They had a better selection to my knowledge at that time lol. I for some reason cant help you on this one. |

What i was saying though is that alot of games out right now like CSS odnt support dual core procesors so essentialy they dont get the boost that a game that does support dual core porcessors would get. | ||
