Has anyone figured out how to turn off the text box that was just added in the new update. Personally I think it is stupid and would like to go back to the old text system. Anyone know how to do this? | ||

I wish i did know also pocky. I bet u that their is no way to turn it off though. They also fucked up the sound. | ||

I went through the console commands looking for something, but sadly, looks like we are stuck with it for a while. What pisses me off is that the box is higher up, more in the middle of the screen as opposed to closer to the bottom like the old one. Plus you see less messages, the font size looks bigger and shit flies across the screen, that its easy to miss a lot of messages. At 1280*1024 resolution, you will get 8 lines of text, using 800*600, you only see 4 or 5 really big lines. Those filters are useless. The mic codec makes everyone sound like a 5 yr old robot on helium. Picks balls back up to prepubescent state, rejoice. The Sprays look a bit bigger too. Good for decoys/goatse, bad for noobs that get fooled by decoys/barf from goatse. The scoreboard is huge! I need a ruler to line up a players name with the score. Steam should work on fixing things that are broken. *EDIT* Jump up and down, let's celebrate!!! I found a bunch of scripts that someone put together that make these changes... - removed scrollbar (every mouse has a scrollwheel) - smaller borders - positioned in the lower left corner - changed font type and size - moved the filter button down and decreased the length of the textbar to decrease the size of the chatbox Download from Steampowered .com forums... -[link]- Edited Thu Mar 15 2007, 12:08AM |

so i have to say...after sitting down and actually playing, I like the new edition to the text box, It is alot easier to see previously typed text. I hate using the console and having to find when some one said something funnny or was talking shit......... | ||

Luckily I have a good one so people think I sound a bit normal on mine. But they changed the codecs around but for what for, I have no idea. I hate the sound of people's voices, although they sound as they would sound with just cheaper sound quality. Some people that you used to hear talk in the mic, well you realize they sound like fags now. Btw, thanks for the link Bubble, that fucking scroll box was annoying. |
