| i need help accessing a HDD | ||

ok, got my new comp, with new HDD. it is 250GB so i have no storage issues. but i want to access my old 80GB HDD. i plugged it in and the computer acknowledges its existence but i cant get into my documents. this shows up: is there a back door or something? please help, i need access to those files oh, and i dont remember the password.

Don't know, maybe just go to "My Computer" and also, are u sure the harddrive u are trying to hook up actually works? | ||

You cannot access the files because: well I can't give you the exact reason but I can give you a scenario that happened to me... I had my laptop with my accnt and shit, then my dad took it away and created his accnt.. the admin accnt.. and put a fucking password on. i couldn't access the files from 'my documents' because i didn't have administrative rights, only he could. he gave me back admin privilidges and i could access it. i set a password for myself so he cant remove it. and.. moral of the story: you need to remove admin password from old hdd i believe |

ok i dont remember exactly but im pretty sure i have gotten this to work for me before. If you start up your system with the hard drive you want to get the information off of and do it in safe mode i believe there should a default admin account with no password that you can login to and then you should be able to do stuff from there. If you changed the hard drive between computers, I think you can use it on the computer it was originally used on, and access it there. That's what I did when this happened to me. | ||

check your boot devices in the bios. you might not even be booting up your 2nd harddrive. dont listen to any of these other retards | ||

um....hey "retard" if it wasnt booting up then it wouldn't show up. access is denied does not mean that the hard drive is not booting up. | ||
