| 3 things i need help with | ||

1) Whenever I try to run CS, when it gets to last stage, it gives me the windows error. Won't allow me to play. 2) Xfire gives me some error shit whenever i try to load it. 3) When i try to run windows update it says this "The requested lookup key was not found in any active activation context." This all happend yesterday, i was playing CS and was on xfire fine in the morning. Then when i exited out of one of my games, I saw xfire wasn't on so i loaded it up and logged in. Then when i tried to get on CS, it gave me some xfire error so i hit cancel b/c I always do that and it runs fine after that. That is when i tried to load CS without xfire and it gave me the error. I have tried re-installing CS and steam, i ran for spyware and viruses, still doesn't work. The windows update also happend yesterday and i also think all of this happend after i did a windows update. I am not totally sure and don't want to re-install windows again since i did it just 5 days ago or something. Any help would be grateful. I posted some shit on the xfire forums, so they told me to re-install internet explorer 7 and then restart and try again. Edited Thu Jul 05 2007, 12:30AM |

Well one option that I do sometimes is if it just recently started happening. Do a Restore Windows all that does it bring your computer back day or two in time. Works well if its just some weird glitch. Just search your computer for System Restore( using the search tool in the start menu) It should pop up. Hopes that helps! | ||

I think it is already solved. me re-installed internet explorer already made my xfire and windows update work. about to try cs. Yep CS even works. It is all fixed. Just had to re-install internet explorer and restart when they tell you to. Edited Thu Jul 05 2007, 12:44AM | ||

just so everyone knows, i will personally slap the shit out of anyone who uses Windows Restore points. I hate them because it RAPES your hard drive. as for your problem. The windows error is because your windows CD Key isn't recognized. Dont worry because the windows updates dont do anything except update your DRM crap. Turn em off. For the CSS problem, reinstall CSS and Xfire. Should fix it. I know it sucks but it worked for me. |
