Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

ok you guys, i'm trying to get my computer fixed, hopefully some of you know more about computers than i do and can assist me. my computer only seems to freeze up when i play source games on steam. but i don't play many other games that are that graphically intensive so there could be a problem with the video card. but all it does is completely lock up my computer, at about 5-25 minutes into game-play, to the point that i have to reboot it to do absolutely anything. even the numlock light won't come on on my keyboard. i have a geforce fx 5200 with a version 6.14.10.9371 driver. i'm running off windows 2000 and can't seem to find a better driver than that for my card. i've replaced every other piece of hardware on my computer, including the ram, re-placed the cpu and the fan so it won't overheat, and both the hard drives have been swiped clean. i think it might be a hardware problem, as far as my video card or possibly my motherboard, but maybe it's something else. anyone have a clue? |

could possibly be a heat related problem with your chipset. check to see the fan(if any) on the chipset is clean. If it is or you dont have a fan try to wiggle it and see if its loose. After that i think maybe its the graphics card over heating. FX 5200s are shit and to think your running CSS on it is mind boggling |

joker, i used to have that same exact problem. This is what they told me to do. First i would re-install the video drivers, then it should fix it. Hello, Please take the following Steps. Please be sure to complete each one and reboot your computer after each step as these have been found to be some of the most likely causes of the error you are receiving. 1. Update all graphics card and motherboard drivers. *NOTE* Be sure you are using the driver removal tool on your card manufacturer's site to fully remove the old drivers before installing the new one, this step is necessary!** 2. Download and install the most up to date version of DirectX 3. Download the newest drivers for your sound card 4. Update windows 5. If none of the above works, disable the soundcard via device manager and try running the game. If you still have the same crash after completing these steps please try the following: Right click the game name in the Play Games menu in Steam, then select advanced, launch options. Add the following line in the bar for launch options: -nosound -window -dxlevel 70 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0 If that works then remove -nosound and set the directx hardware sound acceleration to "BASIC" You will also want to run a memory test to be sure your RAM is not faulty, one popular free test is linked below: -[link]- In addition to checking your RAM, you will also want to verify your RAM's timing matches what it is set to in the BIOS, you will need to review what latency your RAM stick (be sure they match, example: If you RAM is set to 3.0 timing in the bios you should have 3.0 timed RAM in your PC) After each step be sure to reboot the machine and try running the game, if none of the above works, please reply to this message, and attach the error logs from whichever game you are attempting to play. Additional Troubleshooting: Please do not attempt these steps unless you are familiar with the system BIOS. Disabling Fastwrites may increase system stability. You should find this feature within the system BIOS. If you are using an AGP 8x motherboard, with an AGP 8x Videocard, try reducing 8x to 4x. Try rolling back your drivers to the previous known good version for your card. The following settings are for advanced users, do not attempt if you are unfamiliar with these settings. AGP Aperture or Graphics Windows Size should be set to 128 or 256 Disable any “Shadowing” or “Memory Hole” Disable "Cache Video BIOS" AGP Driving mode should be set to “Auto” Adjust AGP voltage to 1.6v in Bios If you are overclocking your computer, please revert memory timing and voltage to standard settings for your machine.\\ Finally, be sure to check your videocard manufacturer's site for any sofware/driver conflicts that may be known issues with your particular card/driver version: -[link]- -[link]- -[link]- Once this has been completed, Please click the following link: -[link]- This will run a diagnostic program on your computer, Please copy and paste the output, or attach the html output file in a reply to this message. If you cannot click the link, copy and paste it into and address bar to run the tool. Edited Sat Aug 18 2007, 08:47PM |

isnt like, minimum requirement for Source 6 series geforce? I think your processor AND vid card are both overheating. install a fan, turn up the AC in the room, or just spend $300 on a waay better PC. $600 for gamer edition pc. | ||
