Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

A dual graphic card setup, as per SLI/Crossfire, will net you some more frames, but if the game is new or unsupported, you won't see much of a difference due to drivers. If you choose to invest in a nVidia based mutli-card setup, you should be aware they plan to add physics support in, though only on the 84xx or 85x+, I can't recall. This will be enabled with dual 8600's or 2 8800's.. the 9x00 architecture supports these newer functions as well, and I'd expect something to emerge from the ATI/AMD camp as well, though not too soon, as nVidia just bought out Ageia. As far as hooking it up, SLI has a bottleneck if you plan on using a dual-monitor setup. You can only use one monitor in SLI. It's driver-ish, but also the way they built their architecture. With SLI, the bridge that connects two cards simply expands the bandwidth provided to the primary card, from the secondary. You see at most a 25-30% gain in doing this, but you lose a second monitor function, which is a gripe to alot of working people/windowed players. Crossfire, from ATI, I'm not as familiar with, but you should check and read up on -[link]- and see what else people are blabbering about, and you might even ask a few questions there yourself, as per your performance. Luck, scro. |
