hold out for another year or two and do it right! my computer was a 2000 and i only upgraded to an average video card and lasted me thus long. i wouldn't suggest upgrading all these things, but hey, your computer |

I would suggest a new rig but i will only HIGHLY suggest it and instead follow your parameters. RAM: (i assume 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) SDRAM) (best company out there and this has balla timing) -[link]- Sound card: (i know it is more than 50 bucks but best bang for your bucks, Highly underrated company) -[link]- GFX Card: -[link]- HDD: not gonna touch this one ur setup is fail do not add to it Sixth,, anything else you guys suggest, whether it be cooling, a new power box thing, a new case, etc. Recommend a new COMPUTER--- and what MOBO? |

What ram you get depends on what you have already. You'll need to tell us how many of each thing you have, for example; 2 512 ram thingies, etc. |

You need 2 512s then, so it's easy. It's just that you have to keep a pattern going if you don't have 2 of the same sizes, like 1gig 512mb 1gig 512mb so you're good. Get 2 512s. If you don't have it set up like this it gets a little lag in accessing them, so it's worse. Edited Tue Mar 18 2008, 12:02AM |

can i move it so its 1 gig 1 gig 512mb 512mb? or can i replace the 512's with 1 gigs so i got 4gigs of the same ram? |

Your best bet if you're planning on spending around 800 is to just build a new computer. Sure, you'll pay a little bit more now, 2-400 more, but you'll get much more use out of it. Dell's mobo and psu are both garbage, and you're planning on keeping them. I'd say sell your current computer (buy a new hdd and run XP on it) on ebay for 200-300, then craft a new computer. | ||
