Quick question. What would cause the following: When i'm playing CS, every so often everything freezes for like 3 whole seconds (let's say I'm moving forward). My weapons all light up on the side of my screen (like when you just purchase them, in yellow), and then things snap back into normal and i'm X many feet forward as if I kept moving ingame, and just didn't see it on my end. No one has complained about me being laggy or warpy ingame. I know that in a recent scrim they made me change all of my settings (cmdrate, rate, and updaterate) higher than what they had been at. I've also made some recent changes to my computer to make it run faster, but would that have any effect, or does this sound like a problem with the in-game alterations I made? I know my graphics card blows, but should I have my catalyst control center running when I am playing, or does that not really have an effect? Thanks! |

What's your ISP? Do a test to check your internet's speed. Also, what's your computer's current setup as far as hardware goes? Do you have a lot of background processes running such as aim, vent, IE pages, xfire, etc? Need more info! | ||

my background processes are minimal.. When I said I did some changes to make my computer run faster, I cleaned up my registry and did some major background process investigation. My graphics card blows ass, but considering this problem just started after a LONG time playing on the same card, I have trouble believing this is the problem. My speed tests say i'm at 9300 kbps download and 4400 kbps upload, 25 ms ping at about 50 miles out. |

Check your rates. Sounds entirely like a choke/loss issue. It does it to me on a predictable basis. (right after alt tabbing for example) Or on first connecting. Or if the server is lagging. Or if I get IM'd or something happens in the background. Is it predictable and consistent? When does it happen? Does it happen often? Need more info. |

For now I see no method to the madness, or pattern. In a 12 round scrim for example, it will likely happen 6 times. I have been looking at my net graph and I do see my choke spike from 0 to ~4 when it happens. | ||
