What I will say is that these next few paragraphs, and don't read on if you're not willing to read all of them, make a pretty descent case that I belong playing on Fish Tank Classic, and didn't deserve to be banned: I'm not going to lie and say that I feel the least bit of regret about banning you. I'm also not going to lie and say that I feel any inclination to unban based on your statements above. A summary of this 'little dispute' is that you simply don't know when to shut your mouth. I "burned" him over the mic last week because he was asking if LimitBuy was still "broken," and he asked this as a rebuttal of my criticism of his mic usage. LimitBuy and his mic usage have nothing in common but I'm sure he thought it clever to draw attention away from the reason he was getting "burned" in the first place. If you're not aware, Pracket was involved in this issue: -[link]- and it seemed obnoxious to me that he even asked. When I ignored him he followed up with a smarmy voice comment of "hmm, no response" to his query of whether LimitBuy was fixed or not. My comments to him comprised mostly of asking why, if he is so interested in LimitBuy getting fixed, that he wasn't actively involved in testing here: -[link]- This is why he got an earful from me, and I felt his own "dick move" deserved my ire. Perhaps I was too vindictive, or perhaps he got exactly what he deserved. You clearly noticed this as you say I "constantly complain" about mic spam. You are making no claims of personal responsibility for the results of your actions. Just prior to your ban (after your tirade about admins and parents) I told you to "choose your words carefully." You opted to mouth off, yet again, and you were promptly banned. Don't wait until it's been bothering you all night, when I've said multiple times to other people to tell me to shutup if I'm talking too much. That is the WRONG way to go about it. Last but not least. If this isn't enough to get an unbann and be given a second chance, then tell me AP or other admins, what else should I do? Okay, after reading AP's rebuttal I can totally understand WHY he banned Laotzu. However, on the other hand, I hate it when two friends argue about shit like this. I love playing with both of these guys, and I would hate to see you both pissed off at each other. So after reading this thread seriously, which I'll admit I could not do at first, I've got a few thoughts: 1. Lao- You took the wrong approach to pleading for mercy by commenting on a person's personal life (i.e. the parent comment, drinking, etc...You were drunk that night and I'm under the impression AP was not, at least from what I saw of him that night). 2. Lao- I agree with Pracket, you really don't need to bring up other people in arguments that are seemingly unrelated. 3. Alcohol- I know the most I can say about my personal influence on this server is that I play on it excessively, but Laotzu is one of my favorite people on this server, and a lot of people were pissed when they heard he got banned (I mentioned it to Cryptic earlier tonight before you posted your rebuttal). He may be, to put it nicely, unrelentingly vocal about whatever happens to wander into his train of thought, but he is really a great guy at heart, and a lot of people really love that about him. Basically, while I totally agree with AP's actions, I really wish to see Laotzu unbanned under the circumstances that he makes a more formal and proper apology, and listens to ANY admin's warnings about mic spamming. I know he's an idiot, but he's a harmless and lovable one. Lao, I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and say that this is all related to your overconsumption of alcohol on the night in question, but stop being an idiot and arguing every chance you get. In order, but perhaps unorganized: -About the thing with Pracket. I did catch that he must have been involved in issues with nade spamming in the past, as you mentioned it to him over mic. But the thing is that you were saying he asked if the issue had been fixed, and then went ahead and did it anyways, but I had been following him for the, what was it two or three rounds before you finally responded to him? Correct me if that estimate is too short or too long. Now, You may have been referring to him asking about it, and then doing it again in the previous instance before that night, which is a possibility that hadn't crossed my mind. But, the semantics of the way you said it to him throw that possibility out the window. -You hadn't mentioned anything to me specifically all night until you blew up at me about talking too much on mic. Honestly, I'm a reasonable person, and all it would have taken is a simple 'hey Laotzu, wanna quiet down during round play?' The first time you actually said something to me over mic, I remember immediately responding apologetically. If you remember the circumstances of my finally saying something game related, It was about their entire CT team rushing up long hall. In fact, they WERE all in long hall, or my radar was broken. They pulled a fast one and turned around and went supply anyways. I felt bad about this, because listening to my call got you shot in the back of the head while you were fogoing r back hall, and that's where my apology came from. But after I apologyzed, you went on to fry me for talking to much over mic, at which point I responded hostilly. For that, I am sorry. For any details I may have omitted or got wrong in my first post, I am sorry. But to say you were innocent of bringing the issue up to me in an angry way is simply incorrect. You could use my "mis call" of long hall as an excuse for that, but I said sorry to you over mic at least twice before you came back at me angry. Look, I understand you pay the bills of the server, so at the end of you day you can do what you want. But honestly, even if I had known you were the one paying the bills, I can't say to you with a straight face that it would have changed how I responded to your initial hostility. I'm not saying it was an appropriate response on my part, because anger is NEVER justified, just explained. I really love the fish tank community, and would really love a second chance. I'm sorry I responded angrily to you, regardless of how you approached me. If there is anything I can do to gain a second chance, let me know. I don't care who's right or wrong here. I like him. I think he should just be given some time out of FTC for a while to know how to respect decisions. Other than that incident with you Alcohol, he's never caused any problems when I was in the server as far as I know. He is a regular and all. | ||

Let in no way my love for Lao be diminished by my following response. Because I do in fact like this guy and want to see him get unbanned however... He has not in anyway that I can see made gone about this in the right way. Alex is 100% right in this case... not only in this case but in any and all cases. I'm sorry but this isn't a democracy and there's certain things you do and don't do to ensure you longevity here. First, is always respect the admins and people who run the server, regardless of how right or wrong or how much you agree or disagree with them. They ultimately make every call and staying on their good side is in your (the playey's) best interest. When trying to make ammends for a wrong doing that resulted in the action of being banned trying to appeal to logic and reason IS NOT THE RIGHT WAY TO GO ABOUT IT. Nobody (especially the people who banned you) cares how right or wrong you or the admin may have been. The only thing that could possibly get this overturned is a complete and utter admission of guilt and responsibility and a sincere non-patronizing apology. Making reference to rubbing someone's dick and then going on for 6 paragraphs as to why you feel you were right or the admin was wrong is only going to further the plight against you. However it is too late to say simply "I fucked up and for that I apologize. It won't happen again, I'm truly sorry and see where I went wrong. Is there anything else I can do to help receive a favorable decision on uplifting my ban?" That would go WAY further than your lead balloon of an apology. With that said, I want Lao unbanned, I really do, I think he's a fun guy to play with and I've grown accustom to his voice, but I totally understand and respect Alex's decision and realize that IF, IF Alex decides to lift the ban that it's not in anyway because of Lao's attempt at an apology but because of the sheer mercy and kind benevolence of the man who generously donates HIS gaming server to us to use and enjoy. Lao, suggestion, humility does not include an explanation or argument. Or even a point counter-point debate. You're not appealing to logic or reason here or even a group of people or another admin. You're appealing to the sole individual owner/operator of the server. A different approach would have been much better served. Good luck. |
