can i smoke this and still graduate college? i mean, i think i can but my psychologist is telling me otherwise. He pulled out statistics like less than 1 percent of college students who smoke pot don't graduate college. and like, i feel like hes right because say I blaze Sunday night, if i have a test that Monday It'll be dam hard to pass fail. But then on the otherhand, i still feel like if i smoke in a smart way, like friday night, then i should be fine... . are there real lasting effects that'll affect my brain so that i wont be able to learn anymore? lol it sounds funny but this is what is on my mind. i mean, i've been sober for about 2 weeks now and its hell. im this close to breaking my promise but i feel so guilty to do so. He keeps saying how itll ruin your mind as chemicals in my head do this and that. basically I'm asking all you pot smokers out there (particularly the older ones) if smoking really stopped you from doing things you wanted to do in life. There are conflicting studies saying that weed does and does not actually effect your brain. Quitting is up to you, do what you think is in your best interest. If you do quit, you will save a lot of money.. | ||

I think what you should do is quit for 35 days. you say you are already on 14 days, but go the whole 35. Then your system will be clean, and then you can use judgement to see if you REALLY need it and crave it. Or you just want to because it "makes things more fun." My brothers and I have smoked for some time. One graduated college as a Math Major and smoked all through college. My other brother has a Business Major and is on the brink of opening his own business. Both reefer heads. No one really knows how it effects people particularly, but it is a depressant. I think you can graduate college if smoking on a good schedule. I mean fuck, anybody can do that. It's all about being smart about when to be retarded. |

Dude, let's be honest. You can smoke weed "errrday" and still pass school as long as you don't go into class blazed. If you study and do your homework, then smoke, then sleep, then go to class the next day, you're fine. And any statistic about weed being bad for you is falsified, or taken out of context, or misrepresented. Toke the fuck up, but do it AFTER you have all your school work done. |

Your performance in school has nothing to do with the weed. From personal experience and trust me I have plenty it comes down to you yourself. It's all about self control and keeping your head in the game. It is common knowledge that weed can reduce motivation but it is easily overcome. Like I said it comes down to how hard you are willing to try. As much as I adore pot, I must say you are prob better off not smoking at all, but if you can handle it than by all means. | ||

Basically what everyone has said here is right. And I would fire your psychologist immediately cause he is a LIAR! Its down to your personal choice cause pot affects everyone differently. If you think that your grades won't suffer due to your smoking habits, then more likely than not they won't. But if you feel yourself slipping, then you're probably like me (I would always feel retarded the day after I smoked, and wouldn't test well) and should consider smoking only at parties or at times when you don't need to stay focused the next day. Recently I stopped smoking altogether and I feel the same as when I was smoking (just no burnt out feeling the next day). College is a time to explore yourself. And smoking a bowl with someone makes you instant friends. Don't be too uptight, go out and party. But College is also about learning how to manage your time. If you feel your partying is interfering with your learning, it's probably time to hold back a bit, cause later on when your loans come due, you'll think "maybe 7 years was too many." |
