Im with my girl for 6 years now. Let me tell you first hand.

It only works if you both want it to work. I love my girlfriend so much that if i had the funds i would ask her to marry me. Its a bit more complicated then that for me though.

Skype and ooVoo are a big plus nowadays. Use them as much as possible and talk on the phone whenever you can. You guys must share everything together. Tell each other what you're doing throughout the day as you are doing it so you guys feel somewhat together. It will also help prevent any trust issues from developing.

Text each other when you can and use the little things to keep the love. You both have to want it. I wont lie... it will be very difficult. You both need to have lots of patience.

Depending how you both feel about each other and how long you have been together, you should start making decisions together. Some to benefit you but some to benefit you both as a whole.
