Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

finally a thread with some intellectual value. I'm tired right now though so i'll really get into this tomorrow. But from the small parts i have read of some links i have to disagree with some and will explain my views and theories in a later post. But i'll leave you with one while you wait for my exsplosion of mind blowing thoughts. One theory i have contradicts einstein's theory that time is traversable if a body is traveling at the speed of light (not going into detail but you should all know of what i speak). My view contradicts this because i don't believe there is any such thing as time. Time is like cold, only an adjective not a noun. It doesn't really exist. Just as there is no such thing as cold, as cold is just an absence of heat, there is no such thing as time. There is only now. The past is just the memory of what happened but it isn't there as a traversable object. Since there is no time, there is no space time. I have a better explination of this and will go into more detail but as i said i'm tired and can't think of this right. Just mull over my idea if you get the jist of it lol. |

i look foward to your post yourdroid. i suggest you look at my first link in the 1st post, it will explain the dimension of time and time travel. Wu-banga wrote ... what about heat? is heat just an absence of cold? ill try to keep this as simple as possible. Heat it natural, cold isnt, so to speak. your body genreates heat, the sun generates heat, fire generates heat. in temperature, heat can be turned cold over time by it losing its temperature (naturally breaking down) and turning cold. on the other hand, cold cannot turn hot unless heated upon by an external force (IE: the sun) or in simpilest terms: you can microwave something, but not microfreeze something. you must put it in a freezer until it gets colder and colder, eventually freezing. Damn, thats a ns post Agent, i really enjoyed your links, and plan to look in 2 more Exit Mundi articles. I also like to think about staff like that, really makes you brain work beter. I espesially liked the post about world as a simulation. When i was reading it, i could not really contradict whatever is said there, except i got this one idea. If everything is so fine tuned, why do we feel pain, there is no real value in it in a simulation, in fact that can be viewed as a drawback. If we compare our world to a Simslike simulation, but an extremly advanced one, i just do not see why the creators would make charachters feel pain, since it does not really matter for both the player or the simulated charachter (me or you), or even the game . Ofcourse you can view it in a different way, and suggest that the "programmers" who created the simulation know better, but then again religiouse people will usually tell you thesame "god knows better". Another way to explain this feeling pain is like gaining Experience in a game, but i dont see how such an advanced race of being could create such an advanced simulation and leave a "bug" like that. Well thse are just my thoughts Once again a very nice post, and if you keep posting i think we can all benefit from training our minds Edited Wed Aug 23 2006, 04:20PM |

Well if the meaning of life is to learn and expand. Pain is the best way to learn, eh? Pain is nothing but our nerves being pushed far passed just being "touched" or "feelings." a bigger question to me is emotional pain. Humans are one of the only (if not only) creatures who feel compassion and well being for our fellow man. Why is this? Why are we the ONLY dominent specises on earth capable of having converations with each other and explore ideas (such as what we're doing right now). And we are the only specise that can make a choice. an animal has no choice but to hunt down its prey in order to survive, but we human have the choice whether or not to kill someone. (animals dont go to jail for killing other animals lol). but in the end, we're animals as well. Edited Wed Aug 23 2006, 05:09PM |

The meaning of life is simple, its only thing we can and will do, and the only reason we exist. The meaning of life, is to live, simple as that. We were cerated to live our lives, think about it, its the common denominator with all life : ) As to the afterlife/what happens when you die im think i know whats going to happen when I die, and it makes sense to me, but I dont know if i could explain it well. Id also like to go into string theory and some stuff about energy/religion/God but its early...and im hungry, maybe ill post back later, nice thread thread starter : ) | ||

well, good point, some may argue that what makes us the dominant species above all other animals is the ability to have such feelings as compassion and others. What i was saying that both emotional and phisical pain, is useless in a simulation, because it caries no meaning for all the involved parties. Yes, one does learn through experiencing that pain, however, in a simulation, if ones charachter gets heart, you know will get the point not to do smthng that heart you, but then again why make an advanced simulation in which the charachter while experiencing reality has to endure all sorts of pain, for a sole reason of providing feedback to some higher entitity |
