Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

-[link]- As if you weren't already ripping your hair out about this. This article in the last closing paragraphs put up some interesting points. Should oil companies be punished for the extreme increases in costs? Or is this all about the sudden increase in oil because of warfare overseas? To be honest, I think the prices are fluctuating, past the point to even where rising minimum wage won't even help. Nonetheless, the economy has to balance itself out so we'll just be right back to where we started with minimum wage just being as helpful as it used to be. So in the end, does increases in minimum wage help us, or just fuck us over more? With the increase in gas prices taking huge chunks in people's budgets, would raising minimum wage really solve anything? Inflation would only make things even more tough, and I can see it's going to be the 1970s all over again, maybe even worse. Should we allow our government to violate a constitutional law to interfere with business in order to keep oil prices low so people can live? It's a hard decision, but I know the democrats will be all over this one. Of course, the Republicans just sit back in their chairs because they don't have to worry about anything because they have money. To be honest, I see this as a major outcome of next years election. Nonetheless, instead of fighting a war and helping out other countries, we should worry about ourselves. What do you guys think? |

Right now, around where i live it is like $2.93 per gallon. When we had the big ass increase, like in Atlanta it was like $6 per gallon at one gas station. It is going to go over $3 again here which sux to me in the summer when i have to pay for it. I think we should of never been in Iraq in the first place. I also think that if we raised the minimum wage, it wouldn't matter. If we put the minimum wage up, most of the people at gas stations are proab getting paid minimum wage, so they would have to increase the price in gas to make up for the minimum wage increased. Just read that article that night posted "He said the FTC's experience from past investigations and from its current monitoring program shows that unusual movements in gasoline prices "typically have a business-related cause," such as changes in crude oil costs, refinery problems or pipeline disruptions." FTC, sounds familiar. Edited Tue May 22 2007, 10:38PM

I have an idea. let's go back in time and stop big oil from making us think that we couldn't make a car powerful enough with an alternate power source. k?

If that was possible Nostie, I'd be all for it. However, this is reality, and it's up to us to grab a pick and climb out of the stupid fault we're in. It's great to be imaginative though.

What most people do not understand is that the price of gas is set by the cost of oil being traded on the open market. If you ever heard of oil futures, that is what the cost is 90 days out. Even though ExxonMobil find, drill, process oil, the still have to sell it on the open market world wide. They Have to sell it, and not use it themselves. Stupid, I know. Oil prices are set in many different places around the world, not just here in the USofA. What IS controling a majority of the oil prices in this country, is the the Hedge Fund industry, which to be simple a type of investment that you need a REAL LOT of money to be able to use. The Hedge Fund guys are controling a majority of the futures. PLUS other factors are at play: 1) There has been no new refineries built in this country for decades because of enviromental laws. because of the old refineries, there are a lot of breakdowns. 2) Weather - the Hedge Fund guys are betting on a lot of Huricanes hitting the US this year, which will drive up the cost ( remember in 2004-2005 all the huricanes?). If we have a light year ( no pun intended) for storms, the cost of oil will drop VERY quickly. 3) Third World use is up quite a bit There are more reasons. ALSO do not confuse profits with profit margins. The press LOVES to tell you profits, but not margins. HUGE difference. Remember, oil was $10 a barrel in 1999. The MARGINS were actually higher! Today, Exxon Mobil leases platforms in the ocean for $500,000 per day to drill for oil, that is over $180 million per year for one platform, that they do not own!!! In 1973, we were going to be out of oil by the year 2000 This is just some insight for you to ponder Edited Wed May 23 2007, 12:56AM |

I was told today that George Bush controls the price of Oil. Is this true? I will need to know this so I can vote decisively in 2008. I also hear that the Earth was flat and the Moon was made of cheese. Sincerely signed, American allowed to vote |

I'm not voting for shit. It doesn't matter who we vote to run our country, because they don't run it. It's rich corporations that run the country, so fuck politicians. September 11 would have happened regardless of who the president was.
