Probably the most anticipated movie if you've seen Transformers. It's the mystery trailer before Transformers start. It starts off at a going away party for some dude who is going to Japan. Then all of a sudden they hear a loud roar. They turn on the tv to see something had happened in New York (Where it takes place.) Then they run out on the roof to see a huge explosion in the middle of the city, and debris starts falling everywhere. The kewl part about the movie is it is filmed with people holding camcorders in their hands, so you basically get to see what it's like seeing the monster from their perspective. Anyways, the camera falls on the ground and goes black for a few seconds. The dude picks up the camera to see the explosion, and some guy said "I seen it, it's alive". And all of a sudden you see the Statue of Liberty's headpiece come flying across the sky. Now the wonder is what the hell the movie is. People are coming up with possible people. The movie what most think it's going to be is Godzilla, but there's reasons it's not going to be. For one, Godzilla shoots a beam and the explosion was mushrooming, so it really can't be him. It could be Metal Godzilla though (That's what I think it is). It could also be Voltron, the movie that Paramount is supposed to release next year as well, but I highly doubt it. There's also a possible character it could be that many do not know about, which is known as Cthulhu (Large alien, tentacles, yay!) This movie is going to continue bothering me until I find out what the hell it is! The monster is codenamed "Parasite" but that could be anything. Don't even bother trying to find the trailer on the internet, they just take it off immediately. This movie is shrouded in mystery, and that's how a movie like this should be. It's being produced by J.J Abrams (writer/director/producer of 'Lost'). By most accounts, it looks like a remake of Godzilla. If not Godzilla, then some other kind of dinosaur-esque feature. Yawn. The first person POV camera style seems like a cheap rip off of the Blair Witch Project. I guess the studios figure that it has been eight years since The Blair Witch, so many of the target audience (12-16 year olds) don't know about how un-unique, and tired the first person POV is. Been there, done that. The film is due out January '08. I can hardly contain myself. I'm going to go stand in line now to get my tickets. I am such a sucker for the Hollywood buzz. Perhaps they can get me to spend another $11 for a ticket to Transformers just so I can see that mystery trailer again. The cthulu theme would be nice, if you've ever read H.P. Lovecraft then you will know what I mean. And if you haven't...THEN GO READ SOME OF HIS STUFF!!!! | ||

Been there, done that. The only difference is Blair Witch sucked. It's not about ghosts and shit in this movie. Haven't you always wondered what a huge monster looked like from the ground? The P.O.V 1st person perspective looks pretty awesome and from what I know appeals to more than just 12-16 year olds. It's something new to that genre, but I doubt that it's going to be a Godzilla movie. |
