I got out of work today at 9 after working two hours overtime, wet-vacing 1000's of gallons of water out of my building. The fuckin storm that hit us over here was intense. Manhattan was flooded like hell, buses were over crowded because the subways were shut down do to them being under water. Power outages all over the 5 boroughs. 3 1/2 inches of rain in 1 hour. With another inch or two before and after. Cabs were packed. I then found out about the wonderful "tornado warning" in brooklyn. I was like WTF?! -[link]- Check that out. Damaged 40 buildings, crushed 100's of cars, made more then a dozen trees just "disapear." It was hailing ice the size of golf balls. Caused possibly 10s of millions of dollars worth of damage. I, had to get my NY residency slip from the Municipal building by City Hall today for school. No trains, buses, or cabs. I walked from 51st and 6th to Foley Square, and then back to 24th and Madison. For those of you who dont know what the fuck that is, i estimated the travel on google maps. 6.6 miles in 91 degree weather, after working a 10 hours shift. i rode on the q and f train even though there was no service i snuck onto the platform and i was like the only one there, and it made all the stops and i got to see teh workers cutting down a tree best commute ever. |
