Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

I can't stand Mac users. They believe that, solely based on the fact that they have an iBook or PowerBook, they are vastly more intelligent and superior to anyone using a PC. In the past few months I've gone through a personal crusade against people who let it slip how they feel about this subject. One of my good friends needs a laptop, and a mutual friend told him "get an ibook, they're so much better." The following ensued: Me: "wait, why are they better?" Her: "They just are. In every aspect. Everyone knows that by now" Me: "Ok, well name specific things" Her: "Well you dont get viruses for one" Me: "It's not hard to not get a virus. Don't click on sketchy things, you dont get a virus." Her: "Well that's it though! I don't even have to worry about what I click on" Me: "Ok, so you like macs for their child-proof esque protections. Next?" Her: "It looks nicer and is user friendly" Me: "Many mac essentials can now be downloaded as PC programs if you really need that bar of icons at the bottom." I'd keep going, but the result seemed to be that Macs are good at coming "customized" where as PCs are much more customizable. In addition, it's universal knowledge that PCs are more universally accepted as far as software goes, and is cheaper to upgrade in most cases. Anyone else? Edited Tue Apr 08 2008, 03:32AM |

first of all...the only reason macs exist is because microsoft was becoming a monopoly. so the goverment took a shitload of money from them and gave it to apple. another reason to Macs successs is the media. what do you see when you watch a movie/commercial. you see a mac. so people think, wow they have macs....maybe i should get one i hate macs. first of all any game that you try to play on a mac sucks completely except a few. i can't tell you how many macs use microsoft office on them. does that make any sense whatsoever.... anyway fuck Macs. fuck apple. fuck steve jobs. the only good thing the've come out with is the ipod im getting to angry to say anymore |

I don't and have never owned an Apple computer, so good luck calling me biased on this one. Here goes: 1. They're more reliable. Since Mac OS is UNIX-based, it rarely (if ever) crashes. For that reason, it's also (like your friend said) more resistant to intrusion and virii. You can't beat UNIX with DOS. There's no ctrl + alt + delete and End Task because Windows got angry. There are very few inexplicable errors, unlike in a PC. If you're looking for stability, go linux or OS X. 2. Multimedia software. Some people may like to pay $900 for recording software that doesn't work, and others may like video editing suites that take a semester course to learn how to use (and it still works poorly). I don't, though. I'll probably be buying a Macbook Pro this summer, and what I'm excited about most is being able to record without shitty Windows software. And, now that Apples can run/emulate Windows, they really include the entire spectrum of software. Plus, Mac OS X runs most of the necessary math/engineering programs (Mathematica, non-shitty AutoCAD, etc.) There's nothing you'd need to do that you can't. Seriously. 3. They're prettier. Maybe you don't like aestheticism, I don't know. But I do. It's not a major factor in selecting a computer, but it certainly isn't a bad thing. 4. They just work. Come on, think about how much shit you have to go through when you want to get the simplest little thing to work with Windows. You're accustomed to it by now, but it's definitely not worth it. All of that being said, I wouldn't buy an Apple Desktop. I happen to like building my own rigs and gaming with them. Laptops though, those are sick. K, bye. |

Macs are good for business and school and art shit... However, i still personally feel PCs can do those things just as good. As for the operating system being more reliable... i agree with amped. Windows can take a big shit on you every now and then when it feels like it. |

One thing PC users can do that Mac users can't:
Ever notice how most Mac users are skinny? It's because of all the calories they burn because they can't shut the fuck up about how great their Macs are. What is it about Apple that makes its users unable to shut their mouths? Everywhere I go, there's another asshole with a Mac preaching about how much better Macs are than PCs. They regurgitate lines directly from Apple's marketing campaign, like "it just works." I have the following rebuttals to this argument:
1. If everything on a Mac just works, then why does a website called "Mac fix it" exist, assholes? Here are a few choice topics on macfixitforums.com:
-Login window stuck!
-lower caSe "S" key not working!!
-Menu bar keeps flashing
-I can't drag and drop!
Waaaah, boo hoo! I can't drag and drop! Dumbass. Looks like your Macs aren't perfect after all, which leads me to my second point:
2. Fuck you.
I don't know why Mac users get so defensive when you call them idiots. I mean, Apple is a company that has built its entire user base around the fact that its users can't do simple things like turn their computers on. Hell, most Mac users can't even talk without using their hands, which ranks their intelligence somewhere between a simian and hog shit:
Stupid user base aside, I will never own a Mac. It's not so much that I'm a PC loyalist. I'm not. It's that I'm not stylish enough to own one. Most iPod commercials feature guys with long hair, chicks roller skating, and guys wearing fedoras. I have dandruff, and I buy most of my jeans from a grocery store. I feel like in order to have a Mac, I need to be:
# An artist.
# In a band.
# Unemployed (see above).
After the recent Apple conference, Mac fans were elated. One person was quoted as saying "I've had a Macintosh now for a total of 35 days, and I'm really excited to be part of the Mac community." Part of the Mac community? It's a computer, not a social movement, asshole! I feel like Apple is not just selling computers, they're selling a way of life, and I'm not ready to be that heavily invested in a product. I think this parody helps illustrate Apple's unspoken message:
iTunes is the new Real Player:
In doing research for this article, I decided to reinstall iTunes, a program I hadn't used since version 4 (now on 7). Here it is, just working:
Back in the late 90s, everyone used Real Player. Then those cocks at Real Network got greedy, and tried to get their application to take over your entire PC, and people stopped using it. Same thing is happening with Quicktime now. You can't install Quicktime anymore unless you download bullshit iTunes. This section was supposed to be longer, but I couldn't even install iTunes so I could bitch about it. Not that I could have used it for what I wanted to anyway:
From the actual iTunes End User License Agreement. If I want to manufacture biological weapons with my copy of iTunes, I will, fascists. Ditch this bullshit. 3,220,366 Mac fans switched back over to Windows, even though Windows is just as shitty. -[email] wrote ...

Okay.... All my life I have been a Windows fanatic. I dissed macs all the time. A few weeks ago I got a job at Apple doing tech support on macs and related products. Now I have great PC experience, I can do anything. Yet on a mac I had a lot to learn. Now if you can use a PC macs are a breeze. There are a few MACish things to get use to. But in all honesty. The minute they port ALL GOOD GAMES to a mac, I will switch. They are so nice to use, I never have it freezing for any reason. And a lot of good software is able to work on it as well. One of the biggest things is how easy it is to use anything. The way to install software is you drop any .APP file into the applications folder. And it is installed, vice versa to remove. Every application opens so fast. Literally no waiting time for ANYTHING. Try a mac sometime with an open mind, you may be inclined to switch! |

Look I have the pleasure of using Mac G5s in my Maya class. They fucking crash Maya at least 5 times a session. I got my laptop just for the class and bring it every day. My Vista 64 bit never crashes Maya and it actually renders faster than the shitty $3000 Mac G5s. Mac SUCKS end of story |
