Zero, that HP laptop is a good price. $584 and you get a 17inch screen, full keyboard, 1 more gig of RAM... Nothing wrong with HP either. They are a good company. Netbooks are great for class note taking and internet. Plus it has an 8 hour battery life. If you want to use photoshop however, look elsewhere. It uses a low wattage single core Intel Atom processor and it will prolly take you forever to do anything...lol. |

I was told otherwise Angry, is it the same for being a Floor Manager as well? whatever discounts help anyways Travo there is no way in hell I'm buying a refurbished lappy. I don't care how good it runs or if it's been tested, I've heard of MANY bad experiences with furbed laptops. thanks Glitch, I think that's my definite choice. I kindof want to wait for Student deals to come around, but it still won't take off much. So hopefully I'll be getting it soon

Every Compaq/HP machine I have ever had has shitted out on me after a few years. I've had hard drives in HPs die after barely a week, batteries not work after a year or two, and the crap they pre-install for you is almost as bulky and useless as Lenovo's. The difference is that Lenovo makes quality machines. If you're going netbook, I would stick with Asus, Acer, Dell, or Lenovo. If you're not going netbook... actually I'd still stick with those brands. I see that others have been saying differently. All I can say is that I work as a consultant and software/hardware technician for all kinds of laptops... so I've done my research. |

First of all, you're going to epically regret getting a 17" screen. It's going to be huge, way too heavy, and just fucking annoying to carry to class. And everyone else in the lecture hall is going to be able to see what movie you're watching/game you're playing/erotic literature you're reading. I don't really like any Lenovos for under around 700, but this one isn't too bad: -[link]- (the enhanced one, specifically). Or, the Inspiron 14 ( -[link]- ) and upgrade the CPU if you really feel it's necessary (but a 2.0GHz core 2 duo will be more than enough, and that thing's going to kick a Turion X2's ass). Personally I feel 13-15" is a good screen size for a laptop. Anything bigger just interferes with portability. I'd send you an asus recommendation but their site is kinda down right now and I'm bored of writing this post. |
