Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Skip the first paragraph if you don't want to hear my life's story. So I bought a desktop about two years ago. Parts were top of the line, etc etc... I put it together and all I heard was a clicking noise. Gave it to my brother who said he knew someone up at his college that could help. His friend put it together. The motherboard caught on fire. He bought a new motherboard. That got a big black hole burned in it. Long story short, after those motherboards, it worked for about 6-8 months and died. I went off to college and got the shittiest version of the Macbook Pro series and I need a new computer. LONG STORY SHORT: I need a new computer. A desktop. I was looking at IMacs, MacPros, etc... but they seem overpriced (I'm not worried about price, but I'm not interested in overpaying...) I've heard of sites that allow you to choose your parts and they put a computer together for you. That sounded like just what I wanted. IN ANY CASE... Anyone interested in building me a "dream" computer please feel free, and anyone with advice on whether to go with Macs (yeah I know you'll all say GO PC NIGGER) or to buy other shit, let me know... A few guidelines: -If possible, keep the computer under $2k. -I need a monitor. If you want to look for a nice one (from 24" to 30"), I'm all ears. Please keep the monitor under $900ish?(Apple's 24" flat panel monitor is $900) -It NEEDS a VERY GOOD cooling system. My room gets extremely hot and I'll be in a dorm/supplemental housing so it's going to get HOT. If you've got questions or you want to flame me, feel free. |

go pc nigger if you don't really know how to put a computer together properly and don't feel like learning, i've come across this site that builds some beasts of computers for moderately decent prices. the "assassin" fits your price range and is more computer than you could use, but it's pretty fucking nice. -[link]- you can customize almost every part in it without having to put it together yourself if you feel like trying to put one together yourself i can make a build for that as well up to you vanilla face |

Looks pretty cool. I'm thinking "stage 2" cooling should be just fine. the other shit looked like a LOT of overkill. I imagine it's 100-110 degrees in here @ max. Would I need more than that? I feel like two video cards is overkill too. Would it at all be worth it? Do I really need 1GB of Video card memory? Edited Wed Jun 16 2010, 07:27PM |

would you have any interest in going 3D? with 2k, you can probably build a pretty good 3D gaming rig. | ||

nostie wrote ... Well, a GTX 480 should be good for a while, and that's 1.5GB... You don't NEED it, but it's going to last you for plenty of new games to come at least on a High setting. You can get it in your price range too. I just suffice with an 8800 GTS and a dual core, so I can't give personal take on the newer shit. Two GPU is pretty overkill unless you get your hard-ons via max settings on every game.Looks pretty cool. I'm thinking "stage 2" cooling should be just fine. the other shit looked like a LOT of overkill. I imagine it's 100-110 degrees in here @ max. Would I need more than that? Should be obvious, but building with your own parts is probably cheaper instead of the Create-it-here websites. 3D builds are pretty new, I don't know if they're worth it yet... |
