Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Jesus wrote ... Ok well do you have a firewall on your computer because if you have no spyware or adware then like amped said it might be a hacker...I wish that everybody would just have ZoneAlarm Security Suite like me then you wouldn't have these problems because it is a triple layer firewall with built in spyware and virus protection among other things...other than this stuff without anything but what you have said i cant help you anymore than this peace I was completely and utterly fooling around when I said anything about a hacker. There is no logical reason to think that it has anything to do with any "hacking." Emerican, there is no one solution to this problem. It's programs, services, undetected spyware and adware, etc. that have built up over time. Reformat. |

Or get Linux and try play CS:S with Wine. =P I would, but my laptop is my linux box. I don't know if CS:S would even work with Wine. That would be cool. |

American do you know how hot your rig is running? Heat can do some serious slowdown and crashing. Also memory modules Do go bad and you have a few signs of that DL mmtest86 put it on a disk and run it. If you get errors and you have more than one module remove one and test again. If that one gets no errors than switch the process putting the other stick back in. If errors occure that is your culprit. Virus scans are necessary but dont find things like spyware and rookits that may be crapping out your resourses. I use spysweeper and adaware Also if your hard drive is below 75% things start getting slow as shit as far as accessing a file but wouldnt cause memory probs. Now this may sound really stupid but when did you clean the dustbunnies out of your rig? Your heatsink could be clogged along with the fan on your vid card and power supply. This again will heat shit up tiill everything gets messed up. I would try these before doing a clean install. Yes a CLEAN install of windows not a repair if you havent done it in a long time. Also I usually disable system restore as soon as I do my 1st boot after an install. Im not fond of 10% of my HD taken up by system restore. It has seldom solved any probs Ive had anyway. Some swear by it..I swear at it. Good luck on this |

Has the problem been solved yet? Restart if you haven't (sounds dumb but a restart normally helps solve all problems. Not to mention it clears the ram) Look in the BIOs to see if anything seems off or weird. Run Ad-aware and any other anti spyware you have Use the Task manager (CTRL+ALT+Delete) And the processes tab. End any suspicious looking processes. Take note of everything you end and if something clears the problem up make sure you find the source of that process and get rid of it immediatly (If possible..don't go deleting a mandatory windows file..) Might wanna delete any programs/files you don't need as well And if all else fails...like everyone has said. This only, for now, leaves you with the option of reformatting. It isn't that difficult. Backup anything and everything that is important, make sure you have a windows cd so you can reinstall, then reformat. Reinstall windows, reinstall all the programs you may need and all the drivers, Then slowly build your way back up to where the computer is now. |

ok no it hasnt been completely solved, but i havent had the problem lately. vulture, i will clean it out tonight. but it is a fairly new computer. im going to buy 2 300 gig external hard drives, so space wont be an issue. Ill end up saving my music and movies there, as well as my recorded shows. Im thinking of a memory or processor upgrade, but i dont know shit about hardware. |

RAM could help but if you got enough cpu power it isn't as necessary so i'd suggest a cpu upgrade first...although RAM is cheaper. | ||
