Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

New Motherboard problem |

Yeah I'm at my friend's house on his computer because my computer does not work. I got my new motherboard only to find out after I have everything in, it doesn't work. I'm guessing for one it's because I didn't have any electrical putty to put on the processor fan, but I doubt that's the reason. I connected everything up right and correctly, and pressed the power after loading all of the cords in only for it not to work. The power doesn't even come on. So I put in the old one and it turns on for 10 seconds, nothing shows up, and it just turns off. Anyone know what the problem is? If not, then I fucked my computer up for good and I'll probably never play CSS again. Help would be nice.

Night i wanna know everything u have in that PC. EVERYTHING! from CD drives to HDD's to MOBO's to processors and vid and PSU and EVERYTHING. Ill tell u ur problem after i know whazt u got. And u need the clay grease stuff on your processor otherwise u will burn ur processor out within a few days of using the pc for more then 3 hours at a time and then your Mobo WILL catch fire and ur system will die only costing u more money because u didnt spend $3 on CPU Grease... |

It would have worked regardless when I put it back in the old motherboard, but it didn't, and that was the problem. Yeah, it was probably because I didn't have the thermal grease, but it was the new one that didn't even turn the power on that was worrying me about wasting my damn money. I bought the one that you had linked me to Glitch that wasn't the hybid. I got it in only to find out that once I put my processor chip in the spot, the little metal thing that you close over the processor didn't fit! I bought the motherboard because it said it supported P4 (Mine is a 3.06 ghz, not sure what model but it was out about the time HT was new). I have a 160 GB Hard drive, not sure what the RPM is. The motherboard is the one that Glitch linked me to. I have 1.5 GB of DDR1 ram. My card is an Nvidea 7600 GS 512 MB card that's overclocked to run at 425 mhz core clock speed. All I can tell you -_-

iight, the one i linked to you was a great MB that supported P4, but i also linked a cheap NEW p4 for u to buy. It uses your PCIe Vid card (i believe thats wat it is) and uses a P4. You cant get a socket 478 P4 MB that plays PCIe anymore. The one i linked is Socket LGA 775. It does support P4 but it has to be an LGA 775 P4. If you dont have a processor in your MB then you will get a problem similar to the one your having. hold on let me check the MB i linked to you. Ok EDIT: night give up bro lol. Kevin, i think he has a 478 pin P4 like i do. That is why i just ordered LGA 775 PD. Night, forget the hybrid boards. i think they took them off the market because of major hardware problems due to compatibility. My died the second day i used it and i read nothing but bad reviews about all of them. That is why i havent been playing for so long because i was waiting for more money to buy all new parts for a whole new computer. My advice, buy -[link]- or -[link]- depending on yoru Vid card, i dont knwo whether u have AGP or PCIE, and then buy a LGA 775 P4 for like $70. -[link] I wrote ... - those MB's use ddr 400 and ddr2 533. I dont know which RAM you have. If all else fails go with the Hybrid MB kevin mentioned... i dont trust it. there you go. hopefully all works well for you bud. That was the post i posted on that other tech support thread. I linked the first Mobo -[link]- that uses either RAM you have (hopefully your DDR RAM is DDR400) or the new DDR2 533 RAM, AND uses PCIe. The second -[link]- is the same exact board but uses AGP4x/8x instead. Depends on what your vid card is. BUT they both use the LGA 775 P4 -[link]- . I clearly stated that, please tell me you got the right one lol. All in all, you would have had to spend $100 and got everything working. What RAM you got, DDR400? What kind of Vid Card you have AGP or PCIe? What processor r u still using? If its 478pin then that is the reason why the lil metal flap wont fit on the cpu slot. P.S. Im also not sure you can mix up the new ram with the old. I think you can either put DDR400 in only -or- DDR2 533 in only. I dont think you can have both types in at same time because u might encounter compatibility problems. Edited Thu Apr 19 2007, 06:49PM |

there are several different sockets for P4 processors (423,478,775), need to make sure your mobo supports the right socket. edit: glitch beat me to it! Edited Thu Apr 19 2007, 06:39PM |
