Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

So I've finally saved up some money and am considering upgrading my shitty laptop, but I don't know shit about computers and parts and all. When I play css my laptop usually overheats a little and the fans become much louder and the bottom of the laptop gets hot as fuck. I've been using a cooling mat that has a couple fans under my laptop for some time now but it doesn't really seem to help much. Basically I'm looking for advice on what to upgrade. I believe it has an ATI Radeon X300 128mb graphics card and 512mb of ram. Should I just get more ram and a better graphics card or should i get new fans as well? Also is it even possible to get a decent graphics card and a gig of ram for $300 or less? Any advice/help is appreciated, thanks.

Laptop parts are expensive, and it's a nightmare trying to take a laptop apart. I would advise you to just buy a pretty decent desktop. You can build a pretty decent one for 4 or 500$

$500 made my desktop. 2gigs of DDR2 RAM 100gig HDD 7600GTOC vid card. two 250mm fans, Creative Sound card, Pentium D processor, awsome MSI board. Otherwise keep saving, and buy a new laptop all together. Sell your current one. I dont know much bout laptops, but i agree with sla. Edited Thu Aug 02 2007, 08:01PM |

For the most part, you can't replace laptop parts. They are usually integrated into the mobo. And in the case that they are upgradable, you usually have to send them back to the company. Laptop video cards aren't available retail-wise.
