Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

so remember that old Black mac I wanted to get rid of or at least get Mac OS X on? well new problem, its so outdated Apple.com told me to go fuck myself. So #1: Is it possible to upgrade this piece of shit to a pretty baller Mac? or #2: Where can I get like, Mac processors, and mac harddrives really cheap to upgrade this thing? I dont want to like upgrade it to be a monster machine for 2008, I just want it upgraded so it doesnt run like its from the 80's. I want a big harddrive for music, and a processor good enough to handle Mac OS X. please and thank you for any knowledge and help! Edited Mon Dec 10 2007, 09:13PM |

They don't make parts or sell parts for Macs from the '80s.... Unless you have more of these ancient devices and are good at soldering and CPU architecture you might as well forget it. |

I was just wondering if there was a place to buy older parts because Apple has this whole "4 year" policy, and if its anything over 4 years old from the year we are in, they stop selling it. So I wanted to know if there was something similar to Ebay, or Craig's anus where I could get some of these older parts. I dont WANT a new one because I like this case, and how this one looks. ive already put too much time, and a little bit of money to give up on this thing. THIS MUST LIVE. |

porbably... power supplies... processors... gpus... harddrives... mother boards... its all made to work together... You gotta figure out what type of motherboard you have and start from there. Then check availability of upgrade components and their power requirements... Then hope to shit it works and don't be surprised when it doesn't. I've killed 2 laptops now just upgrading ram... luckily they were under warranty. |

mac hardware and software are (99% of the time) not separated. this means if you buy OS X, you need to buy a mac that runs OS X. you cannot go out and buy parts to upgrade because the operating system is tied to the proprietary hardware in your machine. if you go out and buy new ram or a new hdd off of newegg it's not going to work. if you want to upgrade the hardware on your mac, you need to do it through apple. because your mac is older than 4 years old you are pretty much screwed (as you found out). you MIGHT be able to find some hardware on ebay, but i doubt it. sorry playa, but i think you are S.O.L. on the upgrade, you'll need to get a newer mac apple products are pretty, but the only place you can turn to when shit happens with them is ...apple. <3 my macbook btw! |
