Dell's can't be upgraded. It's a known fact. Thus the phrase. "Dude you're getting a dell!?!?!?" Which even Dell uses in their commercials now. Get a barebones kit from Tigerdirect for $600 bucks. Get a single 8800GT SLI and when you want to upgrade get a second one. Upgrade to 2GB ram sticks from 1GB's. Processor... pfft don't upgrade your processor... that's like a brain transplant... ill advised. |

ok so i bought two 512 meg sticks to go along with the 2 i already had in my comp. bought them from dell through the "reccomend for my system" thing they have. 30 bucks plus shipping aint bad. now ill have a steady 2 gigs of ram which doubles what i run on now. i also looked into cheaper graphics cards. while doing that i found out my card needs to be pci express x16. so looking at cards under 150 that are also pci express x16, i found this card: -[link]- All the reviews (which i pay CLOSE attention to due to my lack of experience) say the card is mostly good, and after reading through the first 40 only a handfull had any problems with the card itself. for 95 bucks i figure it wouldnt be a bad investment. anyone got input? heres a look at my cash status: Started at 200 dollars friday. Bought my friend a 50 dollar gift card for her birthday saturday=down to 150 Bought Halo 2 and Halo 1 off a friend=down to 120 Bought a 360 wireless controller: down to 70 20 dollars worth of tournament pools: down to 50 soooo looks like i gotta work some more before i can buy that card! hmm.. i woulda put 2 one gig sticks in instead..idk why kd says you need the same cause you don't... but ya your dell mobo and cpu are basically shite.. and your dell ram is less than impressive but i guess if your happy with it then fantastic | ||

i wouldve bought 2 one gig sticks in but buying those were 80 bucks, and since i had two 512's in it already i figured id pay 35 to get two 512's and still have 2 gigs, just with four cheaper sticks. | ||

Never buy an ATI GFX card, and never buy an X-Fi sound card. X-Fi have funky compatibility issues, and if you're using an ASUS mobo (I am, you're not) you get loud screeches emitted. ATI just blows in general, second rate to nVidia by a long shot. Get something like a XFX or BFG 7600 GS nVidia card. BFG is nice, lifetime warranty and a trade-in plan for upgrades! | ||
