Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Your rig is very nicely thought out... however, i would change a few things. Vid card go with EVGA, since warranty is the best (lifetime) RMA is the best (quickest and most versatile) and overclocking is covered under that warranty as well (hell yea!). You aimed for a 9800... good choice for a budget card that can run everything out there. And may i add, it can run everything out there almost maxed out except Crysis and AoC. But i wouldnt buy that one. Buy the new 9800GTX+ -[link]- Thats all your gonna need. And its cheaper Check the motherboard manual before purchasing the RAM to see if it will definitely work together with no hangs. You can do this buy downloading the PDF file or just browsing the EVGA forums and asking some questions. OCZ is good, but here are some that i personally like -[link]- I would drop the sound card all together. Onboard sound is actually really good these days. The one you got isnt that special, and your mobo puts out the same quality. If you want to spend mucho moneyz, then go with something like -[link]- The case sucks balls. Drop it. You should grab this one imo. -[link]- Its widely used. Its a very good case no matter how you look at it. The power supply you picked is good, and will do the job. Choose wisely. |

9800GTX+ should do both. And get this case, it's beast: -[link]- I don't know how big the 9800s are, but with my 8800GTX, it wouldn't fit in my old case. With the Armor, I could fit 7. |

Don't get the Xion II, especially if you are buying a new power supply anyways. I used to have that case, and it's nothing special. Spend $75-$100 on a case w/o a power supply and you'll be a shit-ton happier. Next, the ATI HD4870 is a fucking beatly card. Use that instead. I noticed that you have a nVidia based motherboard though, so if you want to keep that mobo, go for an nVidia card. Otherwise, a P5K Premium board is over $100 cheaper and it's a crossfire board. There may be a newer board that is better, but I haven't researched it. If you are looking to play games on the comp, and you aren't doing any server work or video-editing, graphics solutions or whatever, use a dual core CPU. E8400 is perfect. It has a faster FSB speed and it has higher clock speeds. This means that you run the games faster. Sure you won't be able to run 15000 different programs at a time, but who does? It's a prime CPU for gaming. Good RAM and harddrive. Any CD/DVD drive you want will be good really... Just don't get a blue-ray .. That's ridiculous... If you really want to spend $30 on a sound card, go for it... I don't think it's worth it. It will take stress off of your CPU, but onboard with a quad core or E8400 will be just fine, especially with a mobo that costs $150-$250. If you are looking for a sound card that makes the difference, look for something over $100. |

Doesn't the 780i support DDR3? Or is that a different chipset? | ||
